We had the good fortune of connecting with Apotherie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

How does Apotherie help the community?
Apotherie aims to bridge the gap between Chinese and Western herbalism, while creating greater accessibility and understanding of plant medicine tradition. We are bringing the community closer to this earth based practice through holistic products and education. The world becomes increasingly removed from nature, and our hope is to help humans remember their original and ancestral connection with this earth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out as an orthopedic occupational therapist in a self-run outpatient clinic. Overtime, I found that the traditional model of treatment just wasn’t cutting it. I began to incorporate more “esoteric” practices like qi gong, meditation, and herbal remedies. Through this work, I discovered how powerful plant medicine can be on a physical and energetic level.

Our approach to herbal alchemy is grounded in both science and spirituality, healthcare and holistic healing. We have a background in the biomedical model, but we use ancient traditions to heal the whole body too. We understand that the body, mind, and soul are all connected and manifest within each other.

It’s not always easy to bridge these seemingly opposite models, but trusting the process and trying new things has brought us to where we are today. We’re still growing our apothecary and herbal services, and there’s still so much to learn. I think the key to our success will be based on a willingness to adapt and change at a steady, sustainable pace.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Eat – Lunasia Dim Sum (Alhambra)

Drink – Vino at Trio’s (Alhambra)

Visit – California Botanic Garden (Claremont)

Play – Newport Beach

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to Jupiter Soundscape (Walnut, CA) for holding it down this year and providing a safe space of spiritual practice. We began our journey of self discovery and manifestation with them, and all our classes & sessions have been life changing.
