We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Heck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what role has risk played in your life or career?

Risks are a huge part of whether you succeed or not honestly. Either you jump at the opportunity or you choose to pass it up. That in itself is a risk right there. For me, I do my best to calculate the outcomes of every decision I make. However, the risk is in the outcome of if its a productive decision or one in which I’m set back. The challenge is how you allow it to affect you move forward, so I always look forward to the growth aspect of everything.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is music and writing. I always had a passion for writing because I haven’t always been the most verbally expressive person in the world. When it’s just myself, a blank page, and a pen, I can truly be free without judgment and bias. To get to where I am professionally I’ve had to fail quite a bit. However, when I stop overthinking and allow that freedom felt through writing to translate into my music, it is a recipe for success. I’ve shut out the drama and nonsense of the world and let the music speak for me. I think that my story isn’t necessarily different from others but unique in my own way. It’s taken me a while to personally get to the level I’m at. I manage myself and I’m learning as I go along. It creates a separate experience in which I can be in tune with myself personally, and hone my talents to perfection as time progresses.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you come to visit LA, first let us hope things are open. This whole COVID thing has changed the entertainment game. There are still some gems throughout. I always recommend that people check out the overlook up Mulholland drive. Down the street you can see Studio City and the whole San Fernando Valley, but at the peak, you can see all of the Greater Los Angeles area. It’s best to go at night so that you can see all the city lights, the true heartbeat of the city. I would say check out some of the taco spots. Out in North Hollywood after 5pm at the Circus Liquor off Vineland Ave you have to check out this place called Pablito’s Tacos. Best in the city. If you are trying to go out dancing, DB Lounge is always a decent spot, or you could check out the Down and Out bar in Downtown LA. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story has brought me thru so many pathways. The amount of people I could thank, the list goes on. I definitely owe a lot to my family, they’ve provided the guidance and knowledge to carry myself in a respectful way. As well as being able to stand on my own two feet. For my music, I have worked with many influential people and have had numerous opportunities. I would definitely begin by thanking DiFiNiTiV for being a great friend and mentor through some of the most trying times in my career. With that, I’d also have to thank Kasey Yale, Zaydon, Victor Brooks, James Lane, EJ, Dox, Sharard Baker, and some others who’s names escape me at the moment. But without everyone, I wouldn’t be able to continue to grow, find the inspiration needed, and to progressively learn day in and day out.
