We had the good fortune of connecting with William Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, why did you pursue a creative career?
Good question. I chose to go down this route because its what my spirit was calling me to do. When your working a good job yet you fill empty inside. What do you do? Then I realize that what I was doing at the time wasn’t my calling. I wanted to leave a mark here on earth. I feel myself going down that pathway.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a artist manager for my brand Heart of a Lion located in Los Angles. I been doing this for a couple years now and I enjoy every minute of it. The suspense of going through all the ups and downs with the artists I work with is very profound. Every artist is unique with their own specific flair and style. I would be the first to tell you this is not for the weak minded but rather for the creative spirit and the knowhow to move forward. Thus far I also learned alot about the music industry itself and with the people Ive worked with or continue to work with. Every day theres something to learn. Moreover leaving a lasting success, I would want folks to take my experiences and lessons use it as a blueprint for their own success. We only succeed by helping each other.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Good question, I would say while they’re visiting the southland come down to these 3 places.

1. San Pedro Fish Market
2. 6th st bridge
3. Historic Chinatown

My reasoning for this is because after being here for some time now I started to see how the city has become more and more saturated and watered down. In my opinion its really hard to find culture and uniqueness in the city because we have a influx of “modern” and “new american” spaces and restaurants. We can blame gentrification all day till were blue in the face but what if we cherished what we have left. Chinatown, the 6th st bridge, and San Pedro Fish market are among the last few authenticated.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother who said you can do anything you set your mind to and what you learn in your mind, nobody can take that away from you.
