We had the good fortune of connecting with Willorna Mendiola-Lara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Willorna, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy is creating my art. What makes me happy is witnessing someones own healing. What makes me happy is seeing a loved experience joy. What makes me happy when my little art students are free with their artwork. What makes me happy is the kindness from a stranger. What makes me happy is a friendly smile that says hello.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
3Fourths Art. My art has been a continuous healing journey for me. Ive been painting women and children as my inspiration. It was not easy to be comfortable in my own skin in world where there was constant judgements coming from all directions. I had to do a lot of self healing, and even now, I still continue to heal. What I have learned thus far is that I have to love all of myself in complete nakedness. I have to love myself more than anyone else. What Id love the world to know about my story is that, 3Fourths was named after studying the beauty of the earth and the human body. The estimation of 3/4 of water in the human body as well as of the earths covering. I want to celebrate women because they are symbolic to the earth because of the strength to carry and nurture life.
