We had the good fortune of connecting with Xaviaer DuRousseau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Xaviaer, what do you attribute your success to?

The most important factor behind my success is my unwavering loyalty to one group: my audience.

My followers, aka “my cousins,” are the ones who give my platform its value, so they are the ones to whom I owe my utmost loyalty. I love the brands and organizations I collaborate with, and I take great pride in my reputation within the industry. However, I’ve realized that if I prioritize not burning bridges with celebrities, politicians, or other bigwigs over remaining loyal and dedicated to my audience, I risk losing everything much faster than I gained it. Honesty may get me uninvited from some parties, but at least I can sleep at night with a clear conscious (and in a home where the rent is PAID).

My audience trusts me to bring them my most honest perspectives regarding politics and societal issues. I recognize that I don’t always have the right answer initially. However, you can only be inaccurate in your reporting so many times before your audience no longer trusts you. That’s especially true in an industry that unfortunately prioritizes speed over accuracy. Nevertheless, I choose to take my time, dig beyond the surface of issues, and THEN inform my audience about how I feel.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As the current fastest rising black conservative influencer in the nation, I take a lot of pride in my craft. I’m constantly adjusting my approach to my videos, how I communicate information, and doing so in a way that remains engaging. My rule of thumb is to win the view over again and again every three seconds. The subject matters I’m discussing are so important, so it’s crucial to find ways that people WANT to help share the message.

It is not always easy. Sometimes I’m hesitant because I’m not sure if I’m bringing a new perspective to the table. My biggest fear is spending my whole career being told that I sound like somebody else or having people not care about what I have to say. I want my own voice to be known, whether it is loved or hated.

My current passion project is creating a reality series called ‘The Spin House.’ After being a political influencer for three years, I finally executed my idea of bringing some of the leading and fastest rising voices in politics together in one house to see how we can fix our broken political system. The series will give the first ever BTS look of what it is like to be in our industry.

There are amazing times where we hang out with icons like my dear friend, Amber Rose. There are chaotic times where we are rushing to an international news hit and have our subject matter changed at the last minute. And then there are times where we are so psychologically beaten up from the pressure of having thousands of people tell us that we are worthless or threatening our lives. Online, our world seems like we aren’t bothered by anything. But that is simply not how human beings function.

HOWEVER–don’t get it twisted. We know what we signed up for and are resilient. We’ve all learned that you can’t be bothered by people booing you when you know the terrible things they are cheering for. We have so much adversity in our industry, including social media giants trying to censor and de-platform us. That doesn’t stop us though, because when you’re not feeling seen or heard, you have to build your own stage and make them see you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends and family visit, priority number one is getting matcha. Moon Juice is a personal favorite of mine. Since we can’t be big-backed, we’ll then go on a hike–ideally at Runyon. After Runyon, we might as well treat ourselves with Erewhon. My go-to is the delicious Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie! For a late lunch, we’ll hit up the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. We can grab a drink after at EP & LP. Then, we’ll Uber Black over to our dinner reservation at either Catch LA, Catch Steak or The Nice Guy.

If those drinks have us fighting for our lives the next day, that’s totally fine! We’ll spend the day getting IVs, B12 shots, and an hour long session in the hyperbaric oxygen chambers over at Oxynergy2!

It’s very expensive to be me… Lord have mercy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a very special shoutout to my good friend and colleague, CJ Pearson.

He’s only 22 years old, but essentially built that table that an entire industry of political influencers are now eating off of. At the young age of 12, he went toe-to-toe with leading titans in the political media space. Because of his work, Gen Z influencers had footsteps to follow.

He continues to uplift young people with political aspirations by creating and leading the RNC’s Youth Advisory Council, which helped bring over 70 content creators to the historic 2024 RNC Convention. He is now working on a groundbreaking non-profit called Influence America, and we will all be hearing a lot more about it very soon!
