Meet Xavier Hemery | photographic artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Xavier Hemery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xavier, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since childhood, I have always been drawn to illustrations, photography, drawing, engraving, and painting. Images have always played an essential role in how I perceive the world. For me, the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” resonates deeply.
Art allows us to express emotions, ideas, and messages that words sometimes fail to convey. It also offers the possibility of leaving things unsaid, inviting the viewer to reflect and interpret for themselves. This evocative power has always fascinated me and is what led me to pursue a creative and artistic path.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What distinguishes my photography is primarily the perspective I have on the world. My universe is divided into two dimensions: one that is dark and intense, prompting reflection on sometimes difficult topics, and another that is much lighter and more innocent, filled with discovery and simplicity, which I explore through my travel images.
I take pride in conveying emotions, offering comfort through a striking image, or evoking dreams through breathtaking landscapes. What I love most is when people see one of my images and immediately think, “That’s definitely a photo by Xavier.”
I have managed to live off my passion through hard work and relentless dedication. Without my wife, who is also a successful artist, this path would have been much more difficult. We couldn’t rely on others to get there; we received little help, and our journey was full of obstacles. But together, with unwavering determination, nothing stopped us.
This journey has taught me an important lesson: in life, you can’t rely on others to succeed. Hard work will always pay off when done with passion and boundless energy. Unfortunately, I’ve also learned that not everyone will be happy with your success. Sometimes, even friends or family can become obstacles because they see in you what they haven’t been able to achieve themselves. The more you succeed, the more people you lose along the way. It’s the price to pay.
But today, I am fulfilled. Happy to have realized my childhood dream, to live from my art, and to contribute to it in my humble way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t permanently reside in Los Angeles, but it’s definitely my city of heart, the most beautiful in the world in my eyes. It has an authentic, vintage vibe that blends seamlessly with modernity. It’s a place where people from all walks of life come together, creating a unique mix. If I had a friend visiting, here’s how I’d show them LA in a day.
In the morning, I’d take them to Santa Monica, where we’d start the day with an iced coffee. We’d stroll along the Pier, almost empty, just for us. We’d watch the waves glisten, their foam sparkling under the first rays of the sun. After an hour of soaking in this peaceful moment, I’d say, “Alright, let’s move! Time for a workout at Muscle Beach.” We’d finish with a refreshing dip in the ocean.
At lunchtime, we’d indulge in donuts, of course, at Randy’s – I’m literally obsessed with it. The Texas Glazed would be my pick. Then, we’d head to Ascot Hills to catch an incredible sunset over LA while munching on pizzas. I could spend hours sitting there, eyes fixed on that view, watching the sun slowly set over the city’s sprawling maze.
In the evening, it would be total improvisation: we’d head downtown and see where the night takes us. An adventure to discover along the way, with no set plan.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I had to dedicate my success and express my gratitude to one person, it would be my wife. She is the one with whom I share everything, who has always supported me, and who, alongside me, forms the artistic duo we represent.
