Meet Xiomara *Xia Maibelie | Soulful Licensed Therapist (APCC)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Xiomara *Xia” Maibelie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xiomara *Xia”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I strive to offer a unique approach to mental health for those who see the benefits of therapy/ counseling without the lengthy and arduous process that’s often involved. I strive to be wealth of clinical knowledge to my clients while also incorporating my holistic, laid back approach. I want it to feel like my clients are just talking to a friend, but knowing that they have all of the benefits of seeing a mental health therapist without all the “extra stuff” that’s involved.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a first generation Latinx, I never really had examples of healthy relationships, how to dream, let alone, how to start a business. My family’s version of success was becoming the supervisor at one of the Motel 6’s they worked at. I was full of ambition in my later teens-feeling the pressure to provide when my father went to prison for 13 years. So much so that I started my first business at the age of 21 (opened up a smoke shop in my hometown) and walked away from it a few years later seeing as I wasn’t fulfilled with this business. I put myself through undergrad (psychology) and paid it off cash with the earnings of the business. I then attended graduate school while teaching grade school as well as working as a Behavioral Technician. I graduated with my Masters in Psychology during the pandemic (which was the greatest challenge of my life). During this period of my life, I became burnt out and highly emotional which is why while at my lowest of lows, I didn’t have anywhere else to to turn but inward and I embarked on the mind-body wellness journey thinking-what do I have to lose? During this time, I got certified as a yoga instructor and started practicing energy healing. It is how I personally know about the healing powers of yoga and Reiki. It was since this time it that it became my life’s mission to pay forward the healing that had healed me in so many ways.
