Meet Yana Symonova | UGC Creator, Medical Interpreter, German & English Tutor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yana Symonova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yana, how do you think about risk?
Risk has been a constant companion in my journey. From leaving Ukraine and starting over in Austria, to moving to the U.S. to build a new life and career from scratch—I’ve learned that growth only happens outside of your comfort zone. Taking risks has helped shape both my personal life and professional path.
Choosing to become a UGC creator wasn’t the “safe” route, but it allowed me to express myself, work with brands I love, and turn creativity into income. Whether it was launching my blog about immigration, travel, and language, or reaching out to international companies for collaborations—none of it would’ve happened without taking the first leap.
Every bold step—from interpreting for families to creating skincare and beauty content, even after some brands ghosted me—has brought lessons, resilience, and surprising opportunities. For me, risk isn’t about recklessness. It’s about trusting your intuition, knowing your worth, and daring to bet on yourself, even when the path isn’t clear yet.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work blends creativity, communication, and connection. I’m a UGC creator focused on beauty, skincare, and lifestyle content, a medical interpreter helping people bridge language gaps in critical moments, and a language tutor supporting both kids and adults on their learning journeys. What sets me apart is the heart I bring into each role—I don’t just create content or translate words; I tell real stories and build trust.
One thing I’m most proud of is that I built all of this from the ground up, in a new country, without a safety net. Starting over in Austria, then moving to the U.S., wasn’t easy. I had no connections, no car, and barely knew the system. But I believed in my vision. I worked hard to build a presence online, reach out to brands, and share my story authentically. Eventually, that led to features in magazines, collaborations with skincare and fashion brands, and recognition from creators and clients I deeply admire.
The journey hasn’t been smooth. I’ve faced rejection, unfair brand deals, and moments where I felt invisible in a crowded space. But I’ve learned that consistency, self-respect, and staying true to your values matter more than instant results. Every challenge has made me more intentional and resilient.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s not about perfection—it’s about realness, evolution, and courage. Whether I’m creating content with a fresh face in natural light, interpreting for a family at the doctor’s office, or helping a student pronounce their first German sentence—I’m fully present. That’s what my brand stands for: honest work, deep care, and stories that matter.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me in California, here’s how I’d plan the ultimate week-long adventure.
We’d start in Los Angeles, of course! I’d pick her up at the airport with a latte in hand, ready to kick things off. First stop: West Hollywood for brunch at Joan’s on Third—it’s got that cozy vibe that’s perfect for catching up. Then we’d stroll down Melrose Avenue, popping into boutiques, snapping photos by those iconic colorful walls, and finding cute spots to create some fun content.
Later, we’d head to El Matador Beach for sunset—it’s one of my favorite spots to take in the ocean views, feel the sand between our toes, and just relax. For dinner, I’d take her to Gracias Madre, where we’d enjoy delicious plant-based food in a stunning, laid-back atmosphere.
The next day, we’d dive right into a content-creation adventure, dressing up, exploring spots like LACMA’s Urban Lights, and taking a few photos at The Beverly Hills Hotel—just the outside is enough for some glam shots. After a day of filming and fun, we’d wind down with sushi from KazuNori and an evening of editing and self-care.
Once we’re ready for the next part of the trip, we’d hit the road and begin our Pacific Coast Highway drive. The journey up to Big Sur is everything—the cliffs, the ocean, the little stops along the way. We’d grab brunch at Malibu Farm on the pier and then stop in Santa Barbara for a peaceful stroll. Later, we’d stay overnight in Cambria or San Luis Obispo, two quiet coastal towns that have just the right amount of charm and relaxation.
The next morning, we’d wake up early to head into Big Sur, one of the most magical places on Earth. We’d stop by Bixby Bridge for some amazing photos and make our way to McWay Falls—where the waterfall drops right into the ocean. It’s the kind of beauty that takes your breath away. We’d stay in a cozy cabin surrounded by redwoods, no Wi-Fi, just candles, hot drinks, and quiet nights. Pure bliss.
After soaking in the serenity of Big Sur, we’d continue on to Carmel-by-the-Sea, a town that feels like a fairy tale with its cobblestone streets and art galleries. We’d wander through town, maybe grab a pastry or two, before heading to Monterey to check out the sea lions and grab lunch by the water. From there, we’d make our way to San Francisco, the city that always feels like home.
Once in San Francisco, we’d start our explorations with breakfast at The Mill, followed by a stroll down Lombard Street and a visit to the Golden Gate Bridge. We’d snap photos at Baker Beach, then take the ferry to Sausalito for dinner by the bay, watching the city lights twinkle as the sun sets.
On our last day, we’d take it slow—have brunch at Blue Bottle, browse a little bookstore or farmer’s market, and just soak up the last bit of California charm. We’d finish with a final walk through Golden Gate Park, sit under a tree, and reflect on all the fun we had, capturing our favorite moments and memories before saying goodbye.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my biggest shoutout goes to my partner. His support—emotionally, financially, and simply by being there during moments of doubt—has been the foundation that allowed me to take risks, move across countries, and pursue a creative career. From driving me to shoots to encouraging me when collaborations didn’t go as planned, he’s been the quiet strength behind so many of my wins.
I also want to recognize the incredible community of women creators and immigrants I’ve connected with online. Their stories, resilience, and openness reminded me I’m not alone in navigating the challenges of starting over. Whether it was a kind DM, a shared resource, or a piece of advice—they all played a role in keeping me motivated.
And lastly, a shoutout to every teacher who believed in me and every book that reminded me of the power of language and storytelling. They helped me see that even in a new country, my voice has value.
