We had the good fortune of connecting with Yash Naran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yash, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From such an early age I was always creative. Taking more time in art class or going outside the box in wood shop.

To me I was a way of expression. A way to express individuality. I felt that it separated me from others and showed my different way of thinking or expressing myself. But what it actually did was brought me closer to everyone.

I grew up dancing and acting and I was able to be creative with my friends and it made us a family. Being apart of a big group all with the same intention is super powerful.

What I love most is the escape. The world has so many up and downs. And it can be so hard with work and life and we escape though music, movies, literally anything that lets us explore our minds and gives us even the smallest break. If I can create and escape I want to help take someone to a place they haven’t been and that’s the best reward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love movies and music. And I’m not the best singer or screenwriter but I have a passion for those art forms and it shows in all aspects of my life. In some of my visuals I use music as a way to enhance the emotional aspects. Art is such a powerful tool to tell any story.

I want to create pieces that resonate but also show different sides to myself and the world. I am Indian but I grew up in Florida and I have a different perspective than others and I want to show that but also inspire others to create their own

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I know I have so much to explore myself but I’d like to do a mix of touristy and hidden gems.

We have to start with bottomless mimosas at places like Market Provisions or Mykes Cafe.

Touristy spots everyone has to go to at least once – Hollywood Blvd, Melrose, do the Hollywood tours and Griffith Observatory.

Other fun things – hikes! I recently did a hike at Santa Ynez and it was a blast – and if you’re lucky there’s a waterfall at the end. I also love shopping at Melrose at any of the vintage or thrift shops.

And dinner you gotta try Sugar fish , The Federal, Rock Sugar, or any taco stand anywhere!

And to end the night you’re gonna wanna find a high spot in the hills to see the city lit up

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people but in this past year I have 3 friends that pushed me to be my best self. After a rough personal time I was at my lowest and my friends helped me by just surrounding me with love, fun, and inspiration. Zinnett, Bella, and Zenetta are powerhouses in their own right and my family for life. They always saw in me sometimes what I didn’t see in myself and a year later I’m thriving in large part to their help.

Also my family and friends back home in Florida really had my back too!
