We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolando Mitchell Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yolando, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the unknown. I know it might sound strange but I like exploring uncharted territory.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a creative who loves business. I bring a unique background to my clients. I understand the importance of customer service. When I open My Creative Space I realized that one of the things creatives gave up when looking for space is customer service. I learned a lot from one being a server and two from needing space for myself as a producer. I remembering thinking about my needs when I was scouting locations. Money always became an issue with each location. It’s the reason why I designed an all-inclusive workspace. I’m not in the business of nickel and diming my customers. I provide the basics for my clients. I have supplies on hand. From smart TVs, LED lights, DSLR cameras, to a fully equipped podcast room. Events of any kind can be stressful and that is why we have the space cleaned, sanitized, and setup. I always have the rooms prepped with chairs and folding tables. It’s important to me that creatives have the freedom to create without worrying about the cost.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love an all in one spot. Pinocchio’s Restaurant in Pasadena on Lake is my go-to spot. The food and service are amazing. If my husband and I are in the mood for some great Italian food and live music we head over to Pinocchio’s. We always share this spot with our friends and family when they are visiting. Fat Sal’s in Hollywood is a must for entertaining out of towners. Anyone visiting L.A. wants to see celebrities. Back in the day, I would hope over to The Tonight Show and grab a few tickets. Now I take them to a studio audience show or to Costco in Burbank. I’m always running into celebrities at the food court. I love museums. I always take out of towners to the beach. We also go hiking. Being from Middle America and my family love the mountains. It’s a must-see every time. The Huntington Library is on my list of must-see spots. L.A. is a beautiful city with so much to offer for someone who is visiting especially for the first time.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my husband, Donald.
