Meet Yomara Gourdet | Social Media

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yomara Gourdet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yomara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I arrived in the United States for the first time it was with the desire to improve my life, upon arriving and starting to work I realized that in this country you have to do more than just work for other people since this country is an abundant country and full of opportunities so I decided to start some entrepreneurship which were not successful but that did not make me give up so I decided to start posting videos on Tiktok about my travels, since I have always liked to travel, I posted a few videos and after a week I got my first video which went viral reaching more than 2.1 million people so that’s when I realized that was what I had to do. After 2 years creating content on social media, I realized that you can do money on social media, so I bet on it and left my normal job to travel for 1 year around the United States as a backpacker, creating content, I went to San Francisco, LA, Seattle, Las Vegas, Portland, Boston and more. The first months were not the best but by the third month everything changed and to this day something that only started as a simple video has transformed my life in every way. After finishing my year I realized that one of the cities that I liked the most when traveling was Los Angeles so I returned and currently I find myself living here

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing in life is easy but if we really want something we have to fight for it. At this moment in my life I feel proud of myself for being where I am, it may be that I am not yet where I really want to be but the truth is that I have made a lot of progress in my life, in the things I wanted to do and where I am heading. I work doing what I love most and I feel happy because before what I am experiencing seemed impossible or unattainable, and now it is my reality, to get to where I am now has not been easy, I had to work really hard, even much more than I worked when I had a normal job, but let me tell you that it was worth it and will continue to be worth it since this is only the beginning of a new chapter.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have lived in Los Angeles for 6 months and I think I know this city more than anyone else, my content is about that, showing things to do in the city, restaurants to eat and other things, if a friend of mine came to visit I would take him to see places outside of the tourist sites of LA, I would take him to see Catalina Island, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, etc.
Local places like St Vicent Court, The Burlington Arcade, Funk Hollywood, Angels Flight, etc and about restaurants I would take my friend to my favorite restaurants which are Caffe Concerto, Northern Cafe and to try the most popular burgers in California which are In-n-out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hmm yes there are two people in particular, first I would like to thank my cousin Pamela because she was the only one who believed in me when I decided to leave everything to go travel around the United States as a content creator and because since then she is my number one fan, she always supports me, watches my videos, she is happy for my achievements and gives me recommendations, tips and ideas on what to do or how to improve my content and I really appreciate that, it is difficult to find someone like her and I feel proud to have her in my life, she is so important to me, love you prima, and the next person is my dad, the truth is my relationship with him had not been the best but for more than 1 year everything has changed and he has helped me a lot in this journey, I feel that our relationship has improved a lot and I like that a lot, I love him with my heart and I thank him for all his love.
On the other hand, one of the books that has helped me the most to understand many things and which helped me change my life is Colin Yurcisin’s book Go All In, reading that book really changed my mind, way of seeing life and above all it helped me understand things that before I had no idea how they worked, I highly recommend this book.
