We had the good fortune of connecting with Yonatan Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yonatan, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I went from being someone that had a lot of free time, to now having to sacrifice seeing friends and family due to work needing to be done. It has been a very drastic change for me due to how my previous lifestyle was, but over time i’ve learned that it IS possible to do both with enough planning and communication.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s been a long journey of battling self doubt, finding purpose and staying true to who I am. I got to where I am today off of pure, unadulterated faith, and a willingness to not give up. Finding my group of people that i trust made it only easier, and we were able to build together. I don’t think i’d find any satisfaction in it all if it were easier, so the fact that it’s met with such adversity makes it all the more worth it in the end. What I hope people take away from our story is that community truly is everything. It is possible to make it with the ones you started with, and that impossibly sized wall won’t seem that tall with people around you that can help you climb over it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Seattle is on the smaller side compared to other big cities, but it’s packed with so much character. I would tell anyone who’s visiting for the first time to absolutely take part in all the touristy spots first, they’re there for a reason afterall.
Pikes Place Market is a must to see the type of city Seattle truly is, going down to the Pier and walking down the entire strip is also a gem. In terms of food, i’m suuuupeer into Teriyaki and we kinda specialize in that field, just about any spot is good.
Seattle also has a very active music scene, with shows happening almost every night. Capitol Hill being a hot spot with venues like Neumos and Barboza. Belltown also hosts another legendary venue with The Crocodile & Madam Lou’s right underneath.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All of my success so far weighed heavily in the belief that my friends have for me. Everyone I work with just so happens to also be some of my best friends, and also some of the most talented individuals in our city. This is dedicated to Nash Pearson, Finn Baker, Evan George, Jake Crocker, Emery Lemos, & Matthew Rygh
Just to name a few.
