Meet Yue Wang | Founder and Creator at Sunnie Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yue Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yue, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Passion in Art was something that was instilled in me at a young age. I grew up in China and at school, I wasn’t excelling well as the environment around me was extremely competitive. For those unfamiliar, education in China is structured in a way where you are ranked from #1 all the way down to the last student which made it very difficult to pursue interests and passions outside of school. Luckily my parents were really understanding and gave me opportunites to explore new things. My parents signed me up for an art class I immediately fell in love. Art became my escape and it was the only time I didn’t want a class to end.
After middle school, I moved to the United States to attend High School and my experiences here really shaped me and inspired me to pursue a carreer in Art. I was finally able to have the time to pursue other passions meet others that were just as passionate. I explored so many different art mediums, from painting to weaving, and it brought me back to those childhood weekends. In college, I majored in Grapic Design and at that point I knew that a career in Art was for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We sell really cute earrings. Like very cute. One of the things I am most proud of is the diversity of our product line. My mom and little sister actually make their own line of styles that really compliment each other and we always get super excited when customers give us feedback on our work. I feel like Sunnie Creative brought my family closer together and the feedback has kept us extremely motivated to keep going.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has the most amazing food in the world and it is extremely diverse. Whatever food you are craving from any part of the world, I can guarantee that LA has an amazing place for it. I crave Asian food all the time, I go to San Gabriel Valley and Ktown. It is the best hot pot place in my opinion and the food is simply to die for.
The art scene is also incredibly beautiful. As an artist, I usually default to advising friends to visit one of LA’s amazing Art museums. One of my favorite places to take tourists is LACMA. Very Instagram friendly and there is a lot to do in the area. Melrose Trading Post and Pasadena Flea Market are also worth checking out on the weekend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family and friends. Starting a business is not easy, and I am super grateful for my family and my boyfriend’s help in making the earrings, packing orders, and every other little thing. I am also grateful for my friends who support my business from the beginning. Without my family and friends, I wouldn’t be able to accomplish what I accomplished today.
