We had the good fortune of connecting with Yuri Siebeneicher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yuri, why did you pursue a creative career?
I love creating small things since when I was a kid. Spending time in the beautiful nature in Hawaii helps me to create something I would love to share with everyone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started my creative adventure, I wasn’t ready to show my jewelry to the world yet. I made tons of designs until I felt like I have enough to show. I think it was hard for me because I am shy in general. However, after I started building my website I got excited. I like accomplishing tasks and the whole process reminded me of the time I studied at the college. I would say the most difficult challenge was to tell myself that I am ready.

What I am most excited about about my business is to create new jewelry with new materials. I am always looking for something different to use. As a designer, there are days I get really inspired to create. Unfortunately, there are some days that I don’t get inspired, but I am ok with it. I think that the best designs will come when I am really inspired, so when I am not I don’t force myself to create.

I am lucky enough to live the beautiful island of Oahu. If you see my jewelry they are very colorful like the beautiful Hawaiian nature. Spending time in the nature everyday gives me a lot of ideas to create new designs. I would love to share my warmest Aloha with the world through my jewelry. I am very happy if I can make someone smile with my jewelry. Each one of my creations is a reflection of the beauty of the islands.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have many favorite places on Oahu. I definitely want to recommend you go to watch the sunrise on the East side of Oahu. Around the Chinaman’s Hat is always nice to see the sunrise!

Then I will take them to Crouching Lion Hike. It’s a short hike like 30min to the top but the view is spectacular! It’s definitely worth it.

If you’re on the North Shore I will recommend to stop by at Ken’s Fresh Fish at Laie and have some Ahi Katsu!

One of my favorite places on the North Shore is Turtle Bay Resort. They have many hiking courses and you can explore the beautiful nature. If you’re lucky enough you can see monk seals and sea turtles taking a nap on the beach.

If you love swimming in the ocean, you will have an amazing experience at Shark’s Cove. You have to get there early since there are not many parkings available but you can always meet beautiful fish! I would say it is kid friendly too.

If you are in Honolulu, I will recommend to spend at least half day in Chinatown. My favorite restaurant is called Legend Seafood. Their dim sum is so good!! You will never regret to eat there.

Of course we can’t forget Waikiki. If you like to drink some cocktails, I recommend Duke’s Waikiki in Outrigger Hotel. Their frozen Mojito is my favorite! Especially the view of the Diamond Head is always a plus.

If you spend the afternoon in Waikiki, you have to stay until the sun goes down. Watching a gorgeous sunset in Waikiki beach reminds you that you’re in the paradise.

I also recommend Domo Cafe at Kahala. I have to say I have so many favorite there. Lol Their seared Salmon bowl is really good so if you are seafood lover, you have to give a try.

If you want to see some beautiful views in town, I would recommend to take a drive to Tantalus lookout! The whole drive of Tantalus is really beautiful and quiet. The night view is also super gorgeous too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my mother who is my best friend and a mentor. She is very positive and supportive. I am very grateful for that. She is the best mother that I could ask for. She is also an entrepreneur herself as a hair dresser. She showed me her determination and strength. I have to say her customer relationships she has are amazing. She has many regular customers for years! I would love to create those amazing customer relationships like hers.
