We had the good fortune of connecting with Yuval Ron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yuval, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
MusoMind was born as a result of a pressing need for a platform that lets music fans support their favorite musicians in a way that fits the reality of music in 2021 and onwards.

The music industry is fundamentally broken. The old models which were based on selling music, both physical and digital, are largely gone. Music streaming, which is the main way for consuming music today, is clearly not taking the artists into account – artists are getting paid ridiculously low royalty amounts like $0,0038 per play. It is clear that music streaming was designed as a legal alternative to music piracy in order to save the major labels, not the artists. Add to that Covid-19 and how in a matter of months the lockdowns destroyed the live music industry, it all amounts to an impossible situation for many musicians and especially for the independent ones.

MusoMind provides an alternative. Our tagline is simple: “Support music.” We embrace the fact that music is free and available anytime, anywhere and wouldn’t want to change that. But we do want to balance it by letting fans support the artists they love directly and on a regular basis. Artists on MusoMind create a profile and post their music and videos on it. Their fans can then support them on a monthly basis at any amount they choose – even one dollar! This forms a new kind of relationship between artists and fans, based on a mutual trust and love for the music. Artists commit to create great music, fans commit to support them.

MusoMind isn’t about charity – fans access music and musicians keep creating new music in exchange for the support they get. It also differs from crowdfunding platforms, since supports on MusoMind are done regularly and aren’t depending on a specific project. We also don’t ask the artists to provide any special benefits or exclusive content in exchange. The music is all the fans really want anyway.

Essentially MusoMind provides a solution to a core issue that began over 20 years ago and didn’t receive any effective response until today. We wish to see more and more musicians and fans embrace this model and together create a new kind of culture, one which truly appreciates music and supports the people who make it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work as an entrepreneur and a co-founder in MusoMind comes as a direct result of me being a a musician and an IT professional. I’ve spent pretty much my entire life in both those fields, and this is one of those rare opportunities to combine them into something which I believe can be a real game changer in the music world.

As a guitarist and composer who is creating in genres that are quite artistic like Progressive Rock and Jazz-Fusion, possibly my biggest challenge is to be able to grow commercially while not compromising the authenticity and genuineness of my music. Artists who began their career in the last couple of decades are facing issues and challenges that were never faced before. In the end, we’re all on our own and it’s our shared responsibility to create a new environment for music to grow in.

I’m always super excited to work on new musical projects – having released my latest album in the end of 2019 I’ve since worked on a guitar transcriptions book, a couple of new music videos and currently prepare a live concert program (it sounds like science fiction at this point, I know) which we are going to live stream this summer. All this makes me the first user of MusoMind and assures everyone that we truly understand their needs as musicians and music fans and that we do business from a very genuine place.

Me and everyone on the team are principally driven by the desire to change things for the better in the world, in this case the music world but not only in it (Go vegan!). The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes first and foremost to my MusoMind co-founder Ishay Sommer, for believing in our platform from its inception and putting so much time, effort and talent into it.

Another big shoutout goes to our first users – dedicated music fans and artists – for willing to try something new and different and for letting us feel every day how much what we do is welcome and needed.

Last but not least, a shoutout to my wife Sandra for her love and support in everything I do.
