Meet Zahir Rashed | Screenwriter and Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zahir Rashed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zahir, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because I live with creative world and the camera is my storyteller. Art is not just what I do; it’s who I am. It’s the language of my heart, the expression of my deepest emotions, and the pathway to understanding the world around me. Art allows me to transcend reality and create something truly magical, something that speaks to the essence of humanity and connects us all.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I see the world artistically, finding inspiration in books and everyday life. I studied writing and directing at the Academy of Arts in San Francisco to turn my passion into a profession.

For nearly a decade, I have immersed myself in the world of art, creating projects that speak to the soul. One such endeavor, the short film “In Peace,” stands as a testament to this dedication. With nothing but my personal budget and a vision, this film has soared, capturing the hearts of audiences film festivals and so we won over 20 international film awards.

I believe that film has the power to revolutionize the industry, to challenge norms, and to inspire change. With each project, I strive to push boundaries, to redefine what is possible, and to leave a lasting impact on the world of cinema.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week-long trip with my best friend, I’d start with an intellectual movie at a cozy theater, setting the tone for deep conversations and shared insights. Next, we’d embark on a journey to San Francisco, exploring its most breathtaking spots and soaking in the vibrant culture. One evening, we’d savor the rich flavors of Afghan Qabuli at a local restaurant, using the meal as a backdrop for discussing the exciting ways art is evolving alongside technology. Each moment would be a blend of discovery, creativity, and meaningful connection, making it a trip to remember.
And we will capture a lot of good pictures and videos to remember the time.
