Meet Zharia’Elizabeth McGlothin | Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zharia’Elizabeth McGlothin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zharia’Elizabeth, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal for me has many different looks. I’ve always been one to go after any and every aspiration of mine. I never want the feeling of fear or doubts prohibit me from accomplishing my goals. When asked where I want to be professionally by the end of my career the ultimate thought is to be happy. Pure happiness equates to success in my eyes. There are many professional careers I would like to continue to pursue. Modeling, Content Creation, Being a well established author, being in the luxury fashion industry, the list goes on. I’m a woman of many talents and desires. Life is too complex to spend it doing one thing, I want to do all that I believe is called over me. Partaking in something that truly makes me happy and peace is the end goal. To not settle and take risks to have the career path of my dreams.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’d like to consider myself a multi-talented woman. I have many ways that I indulge in my creativity. I do content creation to be a source of influence to others. To document my life experiences through a video camera to look back on one day. I model to inspire others and showcase that Black women can be the face of great things. That it is possible to see that representation. I write as a form of self expression. This is another way that I share my experiences with the world. The road of a creative is never “easy”. There are always obstacles and situations sent to test that passion. I feel that being a creative is something that is instilled at an early age. I’ve always known that I was different and wanted to do different things. Being a creative is not something you can really teach, I feel you either have it in you or you don’t and when it’s meant to be explored it’s made very obvious. Remaining faithful to who I am throughout my journey in all of these ventures and stopping at nothing even when others around me didn’t see the vision is what has helped shape my path.
Some lessons I have learned are that timing does not equate to success. Everyone accomplishes things at different stages in their life. Some sooner than others. Being a creative it’s hard to not compare your success or recognition of your work to others. After being in the content creator industry for quite some time now I now understand the importance of patience.
Another lesson is to not get caught up in who is supporting you. At times, strangers will support you more than those close to you. To not get caught up in that and to remember that not everyone will understand your vision as a creative nor do they need to. As long as you believe in yourself and are confident with what you put out into the world, that’s what’s important.
I want the world to know that I will always use my platforms to be a source of guidance and inspiration. My goal is to help people in a creative way. Whether that be how I get my natural hair to its best hair days or sharing my experiences through college, I want to uplift the community and show the world that with hard work and determination anything is possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This past summer I had the amazing opportunity to live in New York City and complete a Fashion related Internship. On my last weekend in the city my best friend came to visit and we did many things in the city. First we went to Dumbo in Brooklyn and went to a restaurant called The TimeOut Market. Our first time trying this place and we were very impressed. They had a variety of different cultures of food which is great for me because of how indecisive I can be with choosing a place to eat. I ended up getting Mexican while my best friend got soul food. Great restaurant to try new things. We then went and looked at the view of the City from the water side in Dumbo which is so beautiful at night! The next day we went and got breakfast at a restaurant called Peachy Keen. The vibes were amazing! So colorful and groovy, great for cute brunch dates. The food was wonderful with big portions! That evening we went to a party in Brooklyn with a community events brand called “Yellow Party ”, the theme is to wear some sort of yellow inspired yellow outfit. They play great afro beats music and more! A great time to vibe and opportunity to meet new people. Some other great places to visit are the Jay Z HOV Exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library, The Brooklyn Museum, and food at Brooklyn Tequila and Tacos!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I have to give my praise to God. Without Him I would certainly not be where I am today. Every trial and triumph I felt I would never get through he reminded me of his glory and because of that I have gotten to experience and accomplish many amazing things in my life thus far. Over the course of the past few years my relationship with God has grown tremendously. I’ve known Christ from as long as I can remember. Heavily involved in church growing up, praise dance, youth choir, the list goes on. It wasn’t until recently where I was able to see Him be revealed to me in a way that I could understand. Having God at the center of my life has truly helped push and motivate my successes. Following would be my loved ones. I was raised by a village for sure, I come from a single mother with support of family. Being in the circumstances that I was given at times I never really felt that the cards were dealt for me to be successful. Many dreams and aspirations that I had simply seemed unattainable given the conditions. Nevertheless I used that as motivation to push and make a better life for myself. Everyone has a story, I believe it’s important to utilize what you were given and stop at nothing to reach those accomplishments. My family has always supported my creative mind even when they didn’t understand it. For that I give my thanks to them.
