We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, you love what you do. It’s clear to anyone who knows you. Why and what about your work do you love so much?
I love making music and being a content creator because I have the opportunity to be a positive influence on people. I have a creative personality and through music and creating content I have the opportunity to express myself in unique ways. I love inspiring others to think outside of the box and showing them that living the life you love is possible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a singer, music artist, and content creator. What sets me apart is my versatility, as well as my candid truth telling. I love showing people behind the scenes, the making of, and showing the highs and lows of my life and what I do. It’s never over polished or fake. It’s definitely taken me a very long time to get to where I am today, a lot of people probably would have given up by now, but I think if you love something and have a passion for it, you never give up. It definitely wasn’t easy. What I learned along the way is that if you stay focused through the ups and downs, stay true to the core of who you are, you’ll be happier. I’d love for the world to know that persistence and positivity really does pay off. A lot of people, especially with music and creating content, have this negative idea that it’s really hard to be successful or that it’s not a real job. When you’re so passionate about something it can be hard to stand up to that mindset and prove to people that you can be successful and you can do it while keeping your morals in tact and you can make enough money to survive as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends visit from out of town I always love taking them to Venice beach boardwalk where they can see the artists, the pacific coast, and all the people skateboarding, biking, running, or performing on the boardwalk. I also love the Santa Monica pier, and Malibu. One of my favorite parts of Los Angeles are all the beautiful hiking trails. I love Tuna Canyon in Malibu, Eaton Canyon Falls, and Runyon Canyon. The Malibu Labyrinth on the Tuna Canyon hike is especially amazing, it’s a rock circle that was built in the 70s and is still there today. From the view of the overlook you can see Catalina Island and all along the pacific coast. I used to live in Hollywood and go to Cabo Cantina a lot, they have great drink specials and karaoke on Wednesday nights. Another cool bar is Davey Wayne’s, that place is really cool, with a secret entrance and cool 70s vibe inside. I also have some friends that dance at Breakroom 86 every Saturday night so I like to go there from time to time as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my mom, Laura. When I was 12 and I started acting classes she drove me 2 hours each way twice a week to my acting classes, she drove me every weekend to auditions, she drove me to all of my voice lessons. When I said I wanted to be a singer and entertainer she fully supported me, and never told me to “get a real job.” Whenever I was going through a bad time in life she was there. I definitely would not be where I am today without her.
