We had the good fortune of connecting with Saidy Salas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saidy, what do you attribute your success to?
My brand is now three years old it flew by right before my eyes. The key I have discovered to having a successful brand is knowing what makes your brand special and rare will causes you to standout. My business is in the beauty industry it is a heavily saturated market. Starting up I knew I had to create something new and different. Many beauty salons only offer one kind of service which is cool if you just want to do brows….. As a entrepreneur I captured my niche and ran with it. The beauty artist in me specializes in brows, lashes and makeup I also love skin care these are my talents that I truly focus on. What made me rare is the fact that I am highly skilled I can shape eyebrows with wax or by threading I am advanced in both techniques. What makes my brand even more unique and rare is that I formed a partnership with a skin and wax artist and we’re starting to build a sister company that focuses further in detail on skin care. My beauty salon stands out from the rest we’re not only providing one type of beauty service we’re focused on the many details of the face. The success to my brand is really knowing what makes us different is gold. We thrive on teamwork knowing it makes the dream work we’re all about uplifting everyone on our team and celebrating our teams many milestones. I build my brand on patience and consistency and a enormous amount of passion. I am successful because of everyone’s support around my team and I. First of all my new sisters company co-partner Alma has been through it all with me the past three years. My clientele who I like to call my extended family were eight years strong. Lastly my mama bear my family my personal friends and of course my loving husband he listens to my crazy ideas before anyone else and I mean crazy. I really believe that success comes through a support system having grace and faith that for me is spiritually most importantly embracing who I am one hundred percent and staying true to myself. What makes my brand so beautiful is that against all the odds were still thriving. We’re empowering one another babes supporting babes Latina women doing business and succeeding.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Beauty is a form of art to be able to connect by doing what I love is all art to me. I sculpt eyebrows for a living a persons face is my canvas. My work is so precise I am able to freehand that’s what sets me apart I’m creating as I work. I am most proud of how my work has evolved as an artist I remember being so timid while working. Now I am just openly creating beautiful art being vulnerable and being myself openly that use to be hard for me. My brow work is so sharp, clean and crisp and my lashes look flawlessly natural enhancing faces is what I do best. My favorite kind of make-overs are for weddings because they have a sentimental value. Doing makeup is one of my favorite outlet of creativity. It’s taken me many years to perfect my style master my craft as a artist. I never want anyone to put me in a box on what kind of artist I am since I am highly skilled in many categories of beauty. I’ve worked in every setting imaginable as an artist . I’ve worked as a freelancer, a hairstylist, at a cosmetic counter in retail and in high-end celebrity based salons and managing business for a entire brow boutique. I have faced many challenges in everything I’ve experienced through my career. The one I had most challenging times with is not having freedom to express myself as a creative individual with a business mind set and not having a balance in life while working for other companies. Deciding to build a brand was crucial in my life. I’ve been able to have all the creative freedom I’ve ever wanted feeling peaceful and having clarity in my professional and personal life. I also love having financial freedom it feels great. My message to any artist who is starting off just like I once found myself is know even when you feel like you can’t breakout of your shell. Keep going keep trying your journey doesn’t have to be perfect and it will always be yours to tell. Always embrace what makes you different because it’s better to be original and not someone else’s copy. You always have to work your way up I’ve been at the bottom of the barrel in my profession. I promise you’ll appreciate the momentum of the highs in life as they start coming to you.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Los Angeles County where Pasadena, California is located is one of my favorite places to own a business and live. I would love to start by visiting Amaras Chocolate Cafe in Pasadena where we will have a Venezuelan brunch with a warm A La Nutella latte. We will run off to do our brows and have facials done at Eyes For Beautys of course to have glowing skin. We would stop by Arlington Gardens and take in Mother Nature and selfie of course. Will end the night at the rooftop bar at the standard and have small bites and watch all of downtown LA light up the night sky.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give Thanks, to God first of all. My loving mother Saydi, Alma co-owner of Eyes For Beautys Skin and the loving community of Pasadena California. I am forever grateful to everyone who love and support my brand.
