We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherard Sharpe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherard, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
There are many pieces of advice people have given to me over the years that I absolutely do not agree with. 1) Good things comes to those who wait. This is terrible advice for many reasons, the main reason is because why you are waiting, the go-getters are getting! 2) The 2nd piece of garbage advice that I totally disagreed with is, that every one should be working for someone. Not everyone is cut out to be someone else’s employee. I for one know I am a chief, not an Indian.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am so proud of my television show The Sherard Show for many reasons. When I first started the show in 2010 in Chicago, so many people did not respect my vision. I had to endure no calls no shows, late arriving wanna be famous guests. But through it all I preserved and brought the show out to Hollywood where some of the industries biggest stars have graced me with their presence. One of the biggest lessons I had to learn was, it’s my vision to make into a reality, not the naysayers. And I want the world to know that the Sherard Show will be bigger then the Jimmy Fallon show if the Lord says so!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was coming to visit me in southern California, I would first take them to the yuppie side of town which is Sherman Oaks. If they arrived in the morning we would eat a good breakfast at Jinkys Cafe on Venture. Then we would go hit a few golf balls at the golf course in Santa Monica over looking the ocean. Lastly, we would take the ladies out for a drop top drive through Malibu and stop to get a bit to eat at this awesome Italian restaurant in Calabasas!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this to my late mother, Mrs Barbara Sharpe! When everyone was tearing me down and saying I couldn’t do it, she enstilled in me the passion and drive that has helped me to overcome major mountains in my life, in spite of my illness.
