We had the good fortune of connecting with Simona Grace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simona, how does your business help the community?
Moms in Office is a political organization on a mission to break down barriers that prevent women from becoming the policy makers we need. Moms don’t have the fundraising network like many independent wealthy candidates or incumbents do and they also have a harder time convincing voters that they can balance family life when elected. We are fighting against this bias and also helping women get elected with endorsements and fundraising. If we want to see women equally represented in politics, this must include moms. We would all benefit from living in a world where laws are just and not based on gender.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Moms in Office is a political action committee dedicated to supporting and electing moms. We are unique because there is a huge void to fill when it comes to political organization supporting mothers or candidates who don’t have a personal network to raise $300k. We also formed a coalition of moms in politics who ran for Congress and now they are putting all their weight behind our 2020 candidates. We want to do more than just give a financial contribution, we want you change how endorsements are made the first place. We want to bring women together who empower each other and help to get moms elected.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Everyone wants to see the beach when they come to LA. My favorite spot is Shutters on the Beach, I like to sit on the patio of their restaurant and enjoy the view. A drive on PCH is also nice, we would stop at Neptune’s Net in Malibu for some great seafood and go for a walk on the beach, I love the Malibu Lagoon State Beach. My favorite store in Beverly Hills is K Chocolatier. I love to bring my out of town friends here because they make the world’s best truffles and also insist that we have a lot of samples. The Walt Disney Concert Hall is one of my favorite places in Los Angeles and there are many great restaurants here as well, Majordomo is one of my favorites. Everyone’s favorite experience in Los Angeles when I have guests in town is our stop at Mariscos Jalisco Taco Truck, best shrimp tacos. I like hiking in Franklin Canyon and the Farmers Market by the Grove would also be on my list.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shout out to the women who are part of Moms in Office. I get to work with an amazing group of directors who all ran for Congress and as a group, we formed a national coalition. They have been instrumental in helping our organization grow and this allowed us to support more women candidates on the 2020 campaign trail. We are a diverse group of women and all of us bring something unique to the table which makes Moms in Office such a unique organization. We all have a common goal to help candidates based on the strength of their conviction, not their connections to corporate America. I also want to thank all the moms who are running for office in 2020, if it wasn’t for them, I would not be here. They keep me going everyday and inspire me to work hard so that we can help more women.
