I started my career as a documentary photographer working with small magazines and publications, doing everything I could just to get a foot in the door. I worked tirelessly just to be in the room and learn from those around me. Success isn’t a destination — it’s a mindset.
What I mean by that is: every time you reach a goal, it feels great — but only for a moment. There’s always a next goal ahead. To me, success is about being in a constant state of growth and finding satisfaction in improving a little bit every day.
I think this mentality is especially important when it comes to health. Health isn’t something you achieve once and then stop working on. Whether it’s getting great results on your blood work or hitting a new personal best in the gym, those moments matter — but if you don’t continue to show up and put in the work, you can lose those results. The biggest decision I’ve ever made was to stop shrinking myself to fit into places that didn’t really see me. For a long time, I felt like I had to tone things down my designs just to be accepted—to make my work more simple, more “traditional,” more like what I thought people wanted. There is this annoying idea called the “wedding tax” circulating. It’s the idea that vendors hear the word “wedding” and just automatically charge more than if it were for another type of event or celebration without reason. First of all, most wedding vendors professionals are female entrepreneurs and small business owners with no intention of creating arbitrary pricing because they think weddings are some kind of cash cow. This industry is heavily based on trends, clout and short lived moments but to be a creator that lasts requires longevity, evolution, and consistency. In one word I would say to be a successful content creator, you need to be consistent. This job is not hard because of the events or the glitz and glam or even the money.
