We had the good fortune of connecting with Taryn Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taryn, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for your children?
When I was pregnant with my first child (17 years ago) I had a great job with Washington mutual bank as an executive secretary. After my son, Jackson was born I just couldn’t bear to leave him at a daycare. I was so in love with this little human that I took a huge risk by quitting my banking career and staying home full time to raise my son and then my two daughters thereafter. I know if I look back on the past 17 years this is my most proud accomplishment, being a full time stay at home mother. It has also enabled me to start my makeup career and still be at home full time to my children. It couldn’t be any better.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Really when you are stating your own business it’s all about time. You have to give it time. I mean with the very occasional blow up on social media it’s all about time. When you put out good work, when you show passion and show you actually care about what you do, People will take notice. Then it’s all about time. Be patient and put in the work. Care about what you put out. That’s how I am. I care about what I’m doing and it shows. I believe my clients know that. That’s rewarding to me!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Ventura is a fairly smaller beach community.  The harbor can be fun, There is usually events going on through the weekends.  It’s fun to grab your beach cruiser and cruise main st downtown and along the point riding down to the pier.  You must grab a filet at cafe zacs on Thomson Blvd.  I Love their filet it melts in your mouth.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dear friend Lacey Maxwell who is also a makeup artist. We met via Instagram and have become fast friends that turned into a wonderful working relationship. We work together almost weekly if not monthly. Lacey is so good at her job so when we decided to work alongside together that meant a lot to me as here is this already established makeup artist who had more training then I did and more of a following then I did , who seemed to believe in me and what I can offer clients. Laceys business is 805 makeup.
