The deciding factor: what’s the most important factor behind your success?

There are so many factors that can play a role in determining our results, performance and ultimately our success, but some factors matter more than others. We asked folks what they felt was the most important factor driving their success.

Other people success as a major part of my business. I’ve made it my life’s work to help others achieve greatness. I knew, from the beginning, that if I could provide a service to help a very large amount of people that my work would speak for itself, and they would tell everyone about their results. If I was constantly giving back and doing more than the next person, they would never forget about me for the rest of their lives. Read more>>

As an organization that works with cancer patients, the single most important factor behind our success is COMMUNITY. I say that because almost everyone has been touched by cancer, and it is such a problem as far as the sheer number of people who get diagnosed each year. My network of those who support my mission is comprised of deeply passionate individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of others. I have been extremely blessed with the support of caring individuals who have partnered with me for over 11 years, including sponsors and volunteers. Running a non-profit can be a very lonely endeavor, because you have to wake up everyday to sometimes very discouraging news. I get emails and texts from cancer survivors (or their family members) where they are literally lost without direction of where to turn for emotional healing. So, for me to have a strong network not only helps me stay afloat, but the network helps us connect individuals with the care they are seeking. Read more>>

The most important factor behind my success has been consistency. The dedication that my team has put in over the last 13 years has been extremely extensive. Most individuals do not have the willpower and the mental fortitude to push for their goals for over a decade. There were many years that I didn’t see anything in return; no money, no new listeners, no growth from the previous year. I had to continue to grind it out. I would always tell myself “If I quit now, that next single could’ve been the one to change my life.” That determination really allowed my label to elevate to the next level. Read more>>

I love things that are silly, cute and heartwarming. Creating works centering those themes has been something I’ve done since I was a little kid because it was always so fun and serotonin-boosting. Things like characters being affectionate and supportive of one another. It’s sappy but I love it! It’s always been so soothing and therapeutic to make stuff like that and I’m so glad so many others feel the same. Chikn Nuggit definitely encapsulates this, sprinkled in with some dark spooky bits for some fun flavor. I think cute and sweet is something that will always be a part of my brand and I’m so glad those things are nearly universally beloved worldwide. Read more>>

Definitely being able to see beyond my current circumstances and believing in that vision is what has gotten to where I am today and will continue to guide me. It’s so important to not let our current circumstances define us or get us down, but to be able to see beyond it. There were many times in my life where I was so far from where I wanted to be and I wasn’t sure how I would get there. The thing is we don’t need to know how. We just need to know what we want and believe that we can. That faith leads to aligned action and creates new pathways that we couldn’t have anticipated. Read more>>

Showing up… in front of a blank canvas, an empty book, an undrawn school playground. The most coveted thing in the art world is not talent, it’s discipline, and connections. It’s the discipline of being a freelance artist, getting into the studio again and again, and making art even when no one is waiting for it. Read more>>
