One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is the ole “great things come to those who wait.” Quote. When I was first suggested that advice, it confused the hell out off me. It even stirred up some arguments amongst the homies. I just believe the quote is mainly situation based and doesn’t really apply things such as a music career. I have heard the term “ignorance is bliss” countless times in my life. And, although many take it into consideration to help balance responsibilities and a state of being overwhelmed, I cannot seem to agree with it. As a socially conscious artist, entrepreneur and Mama, I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that you have to give up on your dreams when you become a parent. My partner and I are both artists and I remember when we shared the news of our first pregnancy, we were asked by a family member if that meant we were finally going to get 9-5 jobs and “grow up”. Another member of our super supportive family asked if we were going to move back to the east coast now that we were expanding our family because it was time to “settle down”. Read more>>
