One piece of conventional advice I’m afraid I have to disagree with is the idiom, “Don’t toot your own horn.” This phrase, coined centuries ago, warns against openly promoting one’s achievements to avoid appearing arrogant or boastful. Societies often encourage modesty, teaching that self-promotion goes against social norms of politeness and humility.
