What are you inspired by?

One of our favorite things to do is to ask the folks we are inspired by what they are inspired by. We’ve shared some of their responses below.

I’m always in awe of the cinematography of the masters. Jeff Cronenweth, Roger Deakins, Harris Savides, and Wally Pfister are probably on my Mount Rushmore of Cinematographers. Taking cues from them, I gravitate towards a naturalistic style and I love when I have the opportunity to lean into stories that have some grit and darkness to them. Read more>>

I am a deeply sensitive person, easily moved by things that bring me joy, positivity, and peace. I have a sort of sixth sense that allows me to detect negativity and toxicity in the air. When I sense it, I distance myself, because those environments stifle my creativity. It’s peculiar—there are times when I go days or even weeks without writing, and then suddenly, for reasons I can’t explain, I feel connected to something greater than myself, almost as if I’m tapping into a transcendental force. In those moments, the words flow. I consider myself a messenger—it’s hard to put into words. Still, my family and my dog remain some of my most significant sources of inspiration. Read more>>

Is “People” too cliche of an answer? A friend once told me “everyone has a story and everyone deserves to be listened to” and I think about that all the time. Taking it a step further, it would be where I’m from – Ireland. Our culture centres around oral storytelling, and has for centuries, it is the Land of Saints and Scholars, after all, and so I like to believe it’s in my blood. There are so many incredible stories from home that I would love to tell on the big screen. Shining a light on underrepresented voices inspires and motivates me. Read more>>

I’m deeply inspired by the stories woven into every piece of vintage clothing. When you buy a preloved item, it’s not just a transaction—it’s like unlocking a little time capsule. Who wore it before you? What moments did it witness? What history does it carry? Every vintage piece has its own unique journey, and I love imagining all the places it’s been and the lives it’s touched. For me, each item is more than just fabric; it’s a tangible link to the past, filled with memories, experiences, and energy from its previous owner and when you purchase it you create new memories, secrets and history to add to it. That is what makes my heart race. Read more>>

Do you know that feeling you get when you’re hanging out with your friends/family on a summer night? I’m inspired by the warmth and safety of my loved ones. I’m inspired by drag queens, dolls and divas, anyone with a strong identity and personal style. I’m inspired by warm feelings and wholesome moments but I’m also inspired by chaos and disarray. I’m inspired by the way a perfectly crafted cocktail can transform a moment. There’s an art to balancing flavors, textures, and aromas, but it’s more than just the drink itself—it’s the entire experience. I love how the right ambiance, whether it’s a warm glow of dim lighting, the soft hum of a good conversation, or the clink of ice in a glass, can elevate that moment. It’s about creating a space where people feel at ease, where the drink in their hand is an extension of that atmosphere, and where each sip adds to the feeling of being truly present in the moment. The marriage of ambiance and cocktail is one thing that inspires me—it’s the way these elements work together to craft an unforgettable experience. Read more>>
