What makes you happy?

Happiness is everything. Where there is happiness, everything else is possible and so we asked the community to tell us what makes them happy.
I think the word happiness makes people feel like they need to feel happy every single moment of every single second. Happiness I have learned through spiritual teachings is to find internal peace and happiness. Happiness can not only come from outside sources: people, places, things. My happiness comes from learning to love myself and to love all versions of myself. Happiness to me is being of service in the work that I do as a pharmacist and my work as a Mental Health Advocate. DOGS! They bring so much joy with their pure presence and unconditional love. Being around them genuinely opens my heart. I’m the person who can’t resist stopping you on the street to ask if I can pet your dog, and I’m always secretly hoping a service dog will be seated next to me on a plane. Their companionship is truly unmatched. Read more>>

When I was younger, I probably would’ve said that material things made me happy—a cool gadget, a fancy dinner, or chasing big goals. But as I’ve grown into my life as a comedian, I’ve realized the things that truly make me happy are much simpler and more meaningful. Making people laugh, whether it’s on stage or just in a casual conversation, is the ultimate high for me—it’s pure joy, connection, and shared humanity all wrapped up in a moment. And honestly, my family and friends are the ones who keep me grounded and inspired. The stories I tell, the jokes I write—they all come from those relationships and the joy they bring into my life. I remember shortly after arriving in Hollywood being on a real movie set for the very first time, and even though I was just working as a background actor, my heart raced with joy and excitement at being a part of the world I had dreamed of for so long. But after about a dozen times of working as a background actor, I noticed that childlike joy of being on set faded and was replaced with a new desire for something more — having my first line in a movie. So I spent the coming years chasing that line for what seemed like an eternity. I auditioned and struggled until finally I was given an opportunity to play a real part with my own line (one word) in a TV show. After finishing shooting my line, I was on top of the world. A flood of happiness swept over me and for the next month. Read more>>

Nothing makes me happier than working on my art.
For one, it’s super relaxing, almost therapeutic. Every time I sit down to work, I’m able to zone out to the music and get lost in the details of the piece I’m working on.
It’s also incredibly gratifying. Whenever I pull back from having my head buried in the minutiae (and any frustration that might bubble up therein), I’m able to enjoy the big picture, quite literally. Sometimes, I’ll spend way too long just staring at the piece—which brings big smiles to my face, but can also infringe on my sleep if I’m working before bed! Read more>>
