We had the good fortune of connecting with Garrett Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Garrett, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is family, friends, when I give my best effort while doing the hard things that I know are good for me. Sleep, exercise, proper nutrition, social connection, helping others, practicing gratitude and learning new skills I think are the keys to living a happy and fulfilled life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have an amazing career doing many things I love and I am so grateful to be able to say that. I’m a personal trainer, model, life coach, and professional jump roper/content creator. I’m extremely proud of the time I’ve taken to be the best I can at each one these things. I’m really proud that I’ve been able to create a lifestyle that is conducive to my career. Anything worth having is challenging and I think through strength training and playing 4 sports growing up, I’ve learned the value of effort. I had to overcome poverty and childhood trauma like a lot of people. I feel like nothing is harder to overcome than the mental challenges we face. I’ve learned to enjoy the present moment and that the relationships we have are just an important as the goals we’re trying to reach. I’ve learn to become aware of my thoughts and self limiting beliefs which gives me the opportunity to change them. I’ve learned empathy for myself and others. I’ve learned so much about the mind and body that I can leverage for the rest of my life to help myself and all those I can reach. I learned to love every aspect of myself and to have gratitude for everything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting I would take them to do all of the most touristy stuff first like Runyon canyon, Griffith observatory, and Venice beach board walk. I think LA has so many different vibes that’s it’s easy to just pick an area of the city and explore. I want to go to some of my favorite restaurants like Pura Vida, planta cocina, and Gracias madre. I’d take them to the beach of course in Santa Monica. Walk the pier and 3rd street promenade. I’d take them to some sporting events and probably the laugh factory. I would definitely want to go to silverlake and echo park because it’s such a different vibe than the west side which I love and another one of my favorite restaurants is there called Sage and also cinnaholics. Guilty pleasure lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people and books that deserve credit for helping me become the man I am today. One book that Changed my life is is The Four Agreements and my Dad and Hellah Sidibe and Lee Cholodenko are 3 huge influences in my life. There are many other that could be considered equally as important.
