Authenticity. We live in a world oversaturated with filtered/glamified/watered down/single-sided/double-edged versions of reality, and I feel that right now we are at a crucial point in history where sharing oneself in raw form is so integral to our growth as individuals and our growth together as a society. The human experience is so much more than presenting a highlight reel version of ourselves to others. I believe that in the work that I do, it is so important to show up and share myself in an authentic way, and that by doing so I can, both, embrace an empowered perspective of my own life, and inspire others to embrace their own imperfections + vulnerabilities, and share themselves authentically. I think the values I try to keep in both work and life is “work hard and be nice to people”, I actually have a sign that says that in my house, I find it all comes back to that. I have friends and colleagues all over the place that do different jobs, so I hear all of the work based philosophies that they hear at work, like “early bird gets the worm”, “quit talking more doing” and things like that. I’m sure those are all good and motivational, but really, if you’re the hardest working person in that room AND a decent human? You’ve got it. Everything else just comes from that. However whoever says things like “go for the low hanging fruit” and “let’s circle back”, I’m sure those are wonderful sayings. Whatever they mean. Read more>>

Authenticity. This word is thrown around a lot these days but I wonder how often people really consider its meaning. To me authenticity starts with truy knowing yourself. I mean, how can you present yourself authentically if you don’t even really know what that means? Sometimes it takes bravery to be yourself when confronted by the expectations of family, society or friends. But in the end, I believe it’s worth it because this world needs the authentic version of each of us. We don’t need a bunch of copies of whoever happens to be popular or famous right now. Read more>>
