The end goal is such an interesting thought in the field of cinematography- or the arts in general. I imagine everyone has their own image of what that looks like, but I’m sure when you’re achieve it, there will be another goal post to reach. If I’m lucky and privileged to achieve my current end goal, it would look like a body of work that is filled with stories that made an impact, images that are thought provoking, the respect and recognition of my peers, and an invitation to the ASC. I am aware that the human mind is a fickle thing and what I think now may change, but I think as long as I illustrate — that is, draw and paint, I would be happy. Before coming to film school, I always thought I wanted to be a production designer, who is the head of the art department in the film and entertainment industry. * My current result-oriented goal is to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games! However, the main goal is fulfilling me “why”. I’ve heard from so many Olympic athletes that they feel unfulfilled and often times depressed after the high of winning medals or just being at the Olympics. For me, tapping into my “why” has already helped me along this challenging journey. “My end goal?” Emily says as she sets down her La Columbe cold brew. “It’s half draft latte,” she says. “I think, I know, my end goal is to be a clown forever.
