Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

I’ve always felt things intensely. And when I don’t understand something like love, disappointment, silence, change, I need to translate it into something tangible. A scene. A character. A frame. I chose an artistic career because there was no other choice for me. I am reaffirming what many have said, if there is another option besides being an artist that you could choose, do that instead. I’ve had a passion for live performances since I was little. I took classes in singing, dancing, drawing, and piano for many years like other children did, but I ended up dropping most of the classes when I got busy studying. I kept playing the piano for many years though. Read More>>

I grew up in a city in Hungary where the arts weren’t too huge, everyone would say to stay away from pursuing it “because there’s no way you can make a career out of it”. I feel like it was the lack of it that made it all the more interesting to me. Read More>>

Oddly enough I don’t really think I have a real reason for why I did pursue art, it just happened that way. I think it was something that would have naturally happened to some capacity in my life.
