Meet Ngozi Kim: Actress & creative multihyphenate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ngozi Kim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ngozi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
In my opinion the only way I know to live a fulfilled life is by taking risks. My biggest accomplishments have come from me taking risks with my dreams, purpose, & passion. Moving to LA has by far been the biggest risk I have ever taken. “Will I get rich and famous?” is usually the question others have about embarking on a life in Los Angeles. For me, it has been: Will it be worth it? & the my answer is ABSOLUTELY! I never knew what was actually on the other side of moving to LA, but taking the risk was needed to find out. I’m still finding out, learning, & expanding here. It has been my best risk ever!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting where I am today has been one heck of a journey. This journey has not been easy by any means. I am an actress first and foremost but in a time where content is so powerful & prevalent; creating my own lane to showcase my work has been mandatory for me. In 2010 I interned at a talent agency where auditions for women who looked like me were very few, and far between. I eventually took matters into my own hands by starting my YouTube channel, GoziTV. On GoziTV I am able to showcase my range as an actress and create any & every role I could envision for myself. Navigating social media can be quite the task, considering I didn’t ever envision it as an adolescent. I’m grateful for creating a brand and name for myself, however I still want to keep my eye on the prize. A sitcom mom, a comedic action film, & rom coms all makeup the projects is see myself continuously in. I want the world to know that while I’m here, I won’t stop creating opportunities for myself and pushing for my creative dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Despite the pandemic shutdowns, my favorite places still remain the beach, nature, & great food! We would head to Santa Monica for a Beach Cycling class followed by brunch in NOHO at The Kitchen Cafe. For more adventure we would hike at Lake Hollywood to get a perfect view of the Hollywood sign then get lunch at TASTE on Melrose. A little thrifting would have to take place, at any farmers market & then dinner at Amazing Thai Cuisine, yet again in NOHO!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
