Meet Cleo Kades: Founder & Owner of Sacred Sunday

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cleo Kades and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cleo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe that success is rooted in passion and drive, which are the pillars I have built my business on. When I created Sacred Sunday I was not only looking for a creative outlet for myself, but also to build a community where like-minded individuals could shop high-vibe essentials, for their sacred spaces. I also understood a key component for success, in a competitive landscape like online retail, would center around putting my customers first. My goal is, not only to understand the needs of my customer but more importantly to provide them with a lasting shopping experience. I treat every order with the same care I would if I were sending a special gift to a friend or family member. Every order is fulfilled with love and an attention to detail. When I started my small business I had just lost my job as a retail buyer, in the fashion industry. I was at a turning point in my career. I wanted to do something that set my soul on fire. I realized I wanted to help people live more intentional lives. So, that is when I decided to focus my efforts on products promoting self-love and self-care. What I didn’t realize, at the time, was how much love and joy I would receive in return. I am humbled every time I receive a heartfelt review and/or message from customers, thanking me for their beautiful products. It is important that my customers see the love that goes into fulfilling their orders. To me, that is success! I truly love each and every curated product in my assortment and hope it shows when customers shop my site. Sacred Sunday is a manifestation of me and I believe having stayed true to myself has set my site apart from other metaphysical spaces. I am so grateful for this journey and the opportunity spread love and good vibes!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sacred Sunday is all about self-love, self-care and good vibes. We offer “feel-good” essentials for your mind, body and home. Having found that our own wellness and spiritual rituals were often interlaced, Sacred Sunday was conceived in an effort to create a thoughtfully, re-imagined experience that blurs the lines between the two. It’s a place for spiritual junkies and modern muses alike. Starting a business can often pose its challenges. It isn’t always fun and glamorous. You have to be willing to jump in feet first and perform countless roles. You often have to work 7 days a week, beyond the scope of a traditional nine-to-five. The biggest lessons I’ve learned so far are; it’s ok to not have all the answers, it’s important to find a mentor to lean on for advice and support, and lastly, when you feel like giving up… keep going! Self-employment has many highs and lows but if you love what you do it is all worth it. What I want the world to know is that if you have a dream, envision what it would look like… then go and chase the hell out of it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I live in LA, I would probably take my bestie to the beach! I’ve always found the ocean to be my happy place. It’s a great way to recharge the soul. After that, we would hit up my favorite little boutiques along Venice Beach or Santa Monica for some retail therapy. And, once we’ve worked up an appetite we’d grab some delicious tacos because duh, that’s what we do in LA. In the early evening, we’d do a sunset hike in Malibu, followed by a relaxing sound bath, then end our night with a glass of wine.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to my fearless mother who has taught me how to be a strong and independent woman. I would also like to thank fellow, female entrepreneur, Amanda Fong, owner of Kindred Row for her continued mentorship and encouragement.
