We had the good fortune of connecting with Tristan Gutner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tristan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is so important. Most of us grow up learning to be very risk averse, always seeking the safety of certainty, but nothing truly great comes from playing it safe. I believe we’re all given a Vision of what we’re here to do in this life, something we deeply desire and are drawn towards. Going after that thing is a huge risk. We have no idea how it’s going to turn out because it’s brand new, we’ve never done it before. And because it’s brand new we become a new person as we walk that path. We grow tremendously. Every amazing thing in my life and business has come from taking huge risks, from having a clear Vision and taking a leap of faith towards it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I run a coaching business that helps entrepreneurs and entertainers bring in more money (or anything else they want to create) doing more of what they love. I often tell people that you’re paid to BE YOU. Meaning we all have a unique gift that only we can offer to the world. We’re compensated to the degree that we are willing to give the gift of who we truly are. The challenge is that most people have learned to present very muted versions of themselves to the world. They were taught to hide or modulate certain parts of themselves so they wouldn’t be rejected or abandoned. And usually those are the most powerful parts of ourselves, the ones that would have the most positive impact on others. When we’re willing to bring those parts back online and share them with the world, our lives and businesses change immediately. That’s why my clients tend to get such quick and dramatic results.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In no particular order I’d take them to: Point Dume, Gracias Madre in Beverly Hills for vegan Mexican food, the Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, Erewhon, the trails above Mandeville Canyon, and coffee at Alfred. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out every mentor I’ve ever had. There are too many to name here, and every single one challenged me to believe in myself and go after what I truly want. We all need this kind of support in our corner.
