We had the good fortune of connecting with Nigo Bands and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nigo, what are you inspired by?
I tend to find myself inspired by my surroundings, the people around me, movies, a ton of things really. I feel like you can draw inspiration from just about anything, it just really depends on the person looking to be inspired. For example something as tiny as a line in a movie may end up inspiring me to write a song or a whole album even. Or how the sky may look on a particular night. You know, stuff like that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well as far as what I feel sets me apart from other artists is my overall approach to what I do as well as how I present myself as an artist. For example, a lot of artists like to use gimmicks or fake images to get succeed, but I pride myself on being me no matter what the situation. Remaining down to earth and never forgetting who I was before all of this. I want to be known for the music and my message, not for my Instagram stunts you know? I want my fans to feel like they can relate to me, feel like I speak to them. Because at the end of the day that’s what’s important to me as an artist. That is definitely something I can be proud of.
As far as getting to the point of even having fans at all, it was a very rough journey. A lot of disappointments, a lot of let downs. But one very important thing I learned is that giving up is basically a slap in the face to the people that actually believe in you, the ones that love you. Your family, your friends , etc. Because they want to see you shine more than anybody and the last thing they want for you is to let your spirit be broken.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d definitely recommend Melrose, personally because of the shopping. Everyone that knows me knows that besides music, clothes and fashion is another passion of mine . Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to one of my mentors in this music game , Chris Kinney and the whole Loghouse Media Group. They’ve helped me so much through this whole journey, taught me many things, helped me develop a brand and so much more. I also want to give a shout-out to anybody that ever supported me or believed in me because at the end of the day I’d be nothing with them. Honestly.
