We had the good fortune of connecting with Romina Keshishyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Romina, what’s your definition for success?
When your soul is nourished with the outcome of a situation that was actualized by your intention–that is how I define success.

What should our readers know about your business?
When I was in law school I never envisioned that I would open up my own law practice. I feared the responsibility that came with such an undertaking.

Two years into working at a law firm, I finally built the courage to hang my own shingle amid offers from Big Firms to whisk me away. It’s funny what a person will do when they have nothing left to lose.

I was 28 years old when I launched RK Legal, PC. Over the course of these few years, I learned what it means to be a business woman, an accountant, an employer, a counselor, and a fearless trial attorney.

What sets RK Legal apart from most firms is that we handle most matters of employment–we don’t just say we do. We represent thousands of employees in wage and hour class actions, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation lawsuits, and work-related injuries. Typically, law firms specialize in one or the other, but we take a more holistic approach and offer something that is so unique in the industry. We handle every single case with the attention and care it deserves, and take pride in our work ethic and knowledge of the law.

Now, at the age of 32, I want to be the best ambassador for young female attorneys in this industry because I know how difficult it was for me as a young upstart navigating the minefield of a male-dominated industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here’s my itinerary:

1. Take my friend and 6-month old puppy Apollo on a morning hike at Eaton Canyon or Brand Park–do a 5 minute guided meditation at the top of the mountain, take lots of pictures, make new friends;
2. Hit up brunch at Castaway, which overlooks gorgeous mountain views;
3. Drive to a local beach (Manhattan or Hermosa Beach), ride bikes, get some sun and sand in;
4. Hit up local shops (crystal shops are a must); try to find a spot that has live music/entertainment (or go bowling, skating, rollerblading, playing pool);
5. Go to dinner at Bestia in downtown LA;
6. Hit up a drive-in movie or local theater Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out the following people:

My family: I thank my mother Karine, father Gagik, brother Denis, and husband Arman for their continued love and support. Without them, I would not have the foundation or resilience to be where I am today.

My friends: I thank my good friend Jake, who is always there to lend an ear for “$Free.99″ and who has been there for me through thick and thin. I also thank my kindred sister, Dragana, for being the anchor of wisdom and courage.

My clients: I thank my clients for the trust and faith they placed in me to advocate on their behalf. They make me a fearless litigator, who can tackle any challenge.

My pup Apollo: I thank him for always reminding me to be present and for bringing lightness to the heaviest days of this journey we call Life.
