Meet Fernando Lujan Mote: Meditation Teacher & Storyteller

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernando Lujan Mote and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fernando, what principle do you value most?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company, Lovetoday, is founded on the assertion that we can go beyond the limits of our thinking-mind and live a life that is integral, loving, and limitless. The way Lovetoday inspires and guides both our corporate clients and sangha (community) members to live in such a way is by offering comprehensive mindfulness courses, hosting a bi-weekly, interview-style podcast with a mission to help us find joy, balance and drive in the here and now, and (very soon!) by launching a Q+A-oriented blog where we’ll tackle questions, tribulations and proclamations people usually encounter as they progress in their spiritual/ meditation paths.
My Lovetoday adventure began in a tiny dorm room during my sophomore year of college, after a series of devastating personal crises had flipped my life upside down. Practices, people and perspectives such as Mindfulness Meditation, Taoism, Alan Watts, Energy Work and Ram Dass all helped me to come back from the brink. Not only that, they helped me enter a world of harmonious abundance which I quickly realized had always been hiding in plain sight. These days, I am driven by a mission to share the impactful wisdom and practical tools I learned from these great masters and challenging times so that more of us can access our own innate abundance, and in turn, help make the world a more balanced, joyful and inclusive place to thrive in.
It is my sincere hope that the Lovetoday sangha continues to grow as we go on to daringly explore the many paths which can lead us to love our today, every day.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start our trip by heading over to Santa Monica beach, where we would perhaps do a little yoga, a little meditating, as we watch all sorts of people pass us by— skating, biking, running. We would spend the next couple of days in museum mode, starting off at the transcendental Getty, with its spacious rooms and gorgeous views of the city, then moving on to the Academy museum (which hopefully is open at the time), then to Frank Lloyd Wright’s earnestly futuristic Hollyhock House. As for food, we would do a wonderful mix between Pho, Ramen, and, of course, Mexican, probably in a taco stand (whose name Im forgetting) in Los Feliz. I would ask my guest to indulge me as we visit places which I hold a particular fondness for—places like Elysian Park, where I once spent a July 4th surrounded by Mexican-American families and Mariachi music, and realized that Aztlan was not too far away, and Studio City, where I lived for one glorious summer during my time as a Marketing Intern for Focus Features. We would end our trip with an afternoon hike which would take us to the Griffith Observatory (can’t go to LA and not go to the Griffith!) just in time to catch the sunset.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oof! There’s so many, but I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to everyone over at the Academy Gold Program, Carlos Hernandez from Ikigai Management, and the ever-wonderful actor, essayist and storyteller Christopher Rivas!
