Meet Robert Miller: Musician, podcast host, author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Over 150 years ago Henry David Thoreau (Walden Pond) said: “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation”. This quote has been my North Star to pursue all my creative dreams in life, including music, podcasting and writing. A life of quiet desperation implies a life of unhappiness and lack of fulfillment, where one yearns to do something different, be something different, and follow one’s dreams. I never wanted to regret not taking my best shot at whatever it was in my life that was burning inside of me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I finally followed my youthful music dream later in life and became a Rock Star in my 60s, an age when most of my fellow Baby Boomers are planning their retirement. For me, however, in just 5 years, my band, Project Grand Slam, and I have released 10 albums including a Billboard #1, had over 4 million video views, over 1 million Spotify streams, over 50,000 Facebook fans, performed festivals and concerts around the world, and opened for Edgar Winter, Blues Traveler, Boney James and Mindi Abair, and an after-show for YES. I’m living proof that you’re never too old, and it’s never too late, to follow your dream.
My music successes led to me starting the Follow Your Dream podcast by which I am trying to inspire and motivate people to pursue and succeed at their dream whatever it may be. So far that’s worked out extremely well, with the podcast having many thousands of downloads in dozens of countries since its mid-March launch. And I will shortly releasing the Follow Your Dream Handbook to go along with the podcast.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Western Massachusetts and I’m only generally familiar with LA. That having been said I would take them to all the iconic music spots in LA on Sunset Strip and otherwise. Places like The Troubadour birthed so much of the great music of the 1960s/70s. The Hollywood Bowl and Dodger Stadium would also have to be on my list.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to my family, especially my wife of 46 years. My wife and my daughters have always been supportive of all my desires and efforts, encouraging me at every step of the way.
