We had the good fortune of connecting with TrayDay SADD and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TrayDay, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking to me is everything, some of the greatest businesses even America itself wouldn’t be what it is or as successful as it is without the foundation of risk taking. When I think of taking risk I think of people such as Martin Luther King Jr. , Malcolm X , Harriet Tubman, Muhammad Ali, Fredrick Douglas, Kanye West , Jay -Z , Elon Musk , Steve Jobs , Kobe Bryant & Tupac Shakur to name a few. All these individuals I named took risks that contributed to shift their generation and future generations to come that’ll live on forever. For me personally I see it to be as another way of having faith and believing in oneself, I’ve encountered many times and situations since a child where life presented either opportunities or obstacles where I’ve had to take risks and the more I take them I believe leads me to make more calculated risks as opposed to not being intentional and risking the wrong things for nothing.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Life imitates art & art imitates life that’s the beauty of it that’s one way I could describe my art , I like to capture things from the realm of my imagination personal experiences and truths as well as reality such as everything going on in the world around me and fuse them together to paint reflections of my life and society at the time. What sets me apart from others is simple; being myself and being me is what set me apart from others that’s the thing with our society we get so caught up trying to compare our lives to the next person that we forget to zone in on the essence of who we truly are & that’s what essentially sets you apart from others and makes you different. As for right now I’m excited for my upcoming album releasing on April 20th titled “2025” definitely going to be something to look out for one of the best albums of the year put a lot of love and energy into this project. To get to the point that I am today as we talked about earlier took a lot of risks , trial & error and persistence in my eyes I’m just barely scratching the surface in comparison to the grand scheme of things I’m just thankful for the journey and being able to live it and create it. A lesson I’ve learned is that self love and mental health play a major role and should be treated as such. All in all the world should know I am a vessel of love even in times I’m misunderstood. I can be a reflection of the world and the world can be a reflection of it all depends on who’s holding the mirror.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a good time first I’m going to take you to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles if you never been and let the Obama Special with a side of mac & cheese or a taco truck with the best mexican food change your life hahaha, hit up a couple of beaches (SantaMonica,Venice,Manhattan,Malibu) vibe out by the water walk the piers and what not. Visit some historical landmarks and some of the best dispensaries the city has to offer. Since you with me and I’m an artist we are more than likely going to be in a few of the many studios out here cooking up some hits and having a good time. It’s Cali and when you know a lot of people and was born here it’s not hard to find something fun & spontaneous to do The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First & foremost gotta shoutout to God and Mother Universe for being patient with me & protecting me from things seen & unseen. Shoutout to Hip-Hop the culture for creating a platform where the unheard voices of the young and older generations of our communities can express themselves , be heard , loved , cherished , and respected around the globe. Another major shoutout to my family my mom for always being an inspiring & motivational source of energy and showing me unconditional love, Shoutout to the whole SADDINK the people & the movement, and to every person I’ve came across on this journey called life that inspired , supported , or helped mold me into the person I am today. “May we all live a wealthy healthy & prosperous life and continue to grow and for the ones not with us let our love always show” – Tray Day SADD
