We had the good fortune of connecting with Alessandra Levy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alessandra, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from New York, (4th and 5th generation New Yorkers and music and culture has always been a huge part of my upbringing. My parents are both musicians, my mom was an orchestra teacher for almost 40 years and my dad is a guitarist and vocalist. Music and performance was all around me. We didn’t really watch too much TV on the weekends, we sat around the living room, putting music on and all playing along on different instruments. My parents were so supportive of creativity and it definitely shaped who I am today. My parents loved using a camcorder when I was growing up, and I took that opportunity to make up characters, stories and take them on tours of the house, always curating content!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
From a very early age, I was very sure of who I was, at least that’s what my mom tells me. Of course, when you go through school, you lose a little bit of yourself along the way by conforming to school, but I do believe I’ve always been that silly weirdo who isn’t afraid to look stupid, take chances and have fun along the way. I believe my fearlessness has gotten me to where I am in my career. I left a comfortable full-time job as an audio producer to become a full-time voice actor and had NO backup plan. Now, into my third year of my voice acting career, I am happier and more successful than ever! It definitely was not easy, but now I’m in a great spot and only improving. Excelling in a career, especially in the entertainment field, takes a ton of investments in time, money, energy, but it’s 100% worth it when you truly love it. It’s pretty exciting to think I am doing exactly what little Alessandra wanted. My parents recently found an interview my Grandma conducted with me asking me what I wanted to be and do, and I said “I want to be an actress and make people laugh.” It took me some extra years to get back to it, but I am doing it, and that makes me proud.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, thankfully I’ve been to LA a number of times before I moved here in January 2020, because if not, I’d have NO idea where to take anyone! haha

My favorite places to eat are SunCafe or Sage Plant Based Bistro. I would take them on some hikes if they liked that kinda stuff, maybe to Dixie Canyon Park or O’Melveny Park. Of course we’d have to spend the day at Zuma Beach with a picnic!

Regarding venues and other typical LA things to do, I’m still new here and haven’t been able to explore during the pandemic. You’ll have to get back to me on that 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my parents for always believing in my dreams and being supportive in all of my creative endeavors.
