Meet Preeta | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Preeta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Preeta, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was raised on the beautiful island of Kauai, surrounded by nature. Whether I was playing in the ocean, hiking in the mountains or weeding in our family garden, being outside influenced me to appreciate the authenticity and realness of life. I did all the extra curricular activities that a burgeoning singer/performer could do; voice, guitar, piano, songwriting and dance lessons. But in the end of the day, I always gravitated back to being in nature as much as I possibly could.
Years later after moving to L.A., my manager knighted me with the name ‘Earth Nugget.’ 😉
Kauai, in all her glory has influenced my music, lyrics and who I am more than anything else. I write about the ups and downs of life, the rawness of the human condition and what it’s like to have a mind that is always searching for more meaning. And when I feel like I’ve forgotten and have no where else to turn, I go back into the wild… and remember.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music used to be Singer/Songwriter-ish, then it turned more pop, now it’s morphing into EDM/Pop/Dance. Emotional with good vibes.
I think that my lyrics are a deep look into the human condition with an attempt to ease the mind about the crazy journey of being human.
I’m really excited about my new single, ‘Gonna Be Fine’ that just came out a few weeks ago. I wrote the song in the beginning of covid and I think that just about anyone can relate to it. Also, my good friend, Shasta McBride put together a psychedelic music video to go along with the song with really cool images that she created.
I put in a lot of time in the biz, and I’m proud to say that I’m still here doing my thing;) I turned down a lot of offers to stay genuinely me.
No, it wasn’t easy. Is it ever? But, I can say that it get’s easier as I get wiser and learn to get to know myself on deeper levels. There’s been some huge lessons along the way, the biggest one being… Stay true to myself! Stay true to yourself!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Knowing me, I’d say get into nature! Get to the beach! Go surf! Topanga Point! Or go zen out at one of my fav places, the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in the Palisades. For eating, I like Abbott Kinney Blvd. Can’t go wrong with any restaurants there. My all time favorite chai and avo toast are at The Butcher’s Daughter. And go see some live music! Not sure whats’s opened back up, but if you get a chance to go to Hotel Cafe, you won’t be disappointed.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to Ben. Ben mother f$@%ing Howard. What an inspiration to be so raw and so real.
