We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaleila Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaleila, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
What has helped me succeed in life is adherence, consistency, and determination. Being able to Adhere to and attach yourself to a commitment makes for some type of progress, but when you add determination into the equation that strengthens the faith you have in what you’re doing. That firmness of purpose gives a sense of confidence that everyone can see. Once you create a steady flow that is consistent, the universe has no choice but to bless you, you have put in the work and you have earned it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the past when people I would meet for the first time asked what I do for a living. I would have to decide what I was going to say at the moment because it’s like I don’t just fit into one box of a job description. I am a multitude of things and I do what I do best. My brand is sharing love for dance/fitness/health and being my creative theatrical self. I started my career working retail jobs at malls so I could take dance classes and have some money while I studied theater and dance in college. Along the way I dived into dancing professionally and modeling in music videos but it still wasn’t enough. So I got a side job teaching fitness to kids and adults not realizing how much I would love teaching fitness because it’s movement, just like dance. Being a theater and dance major at CSULA I had experienced the joy in acting and becoming a character but it wasn’t something I prioritized over dance because I was focused on dancing background for a major hip hop artist. Once I danced for a few major artist, and my big bucket list artist, Nicki Minaj. It wasn’t all that I thought it was going to be. I needed to form a new goal. Something that made me feel like my talent and genuine self was being seen. That’s when I decided to become my own brand and start creating dance fitness workouts to share with people that want to become a better version of themselves. The idea allowed me to creatively express myself and share all my dance and fitness training/knowledge in a way that serves my community and my purpose on a larger scale. The new wave of social media influencers has given me the opportunity to take my career by the horns and make my own opportunities instead of waiting around for a “big break”. I have been collaborating on sketches with other influencers, doing commercial work, and making some featured appearances on television shows. The world of acting is definitely something I’m breaking into that makes my brand special. The journey hasn’t been fast or easy and I’m constantly learning and expanding. I learned that having a balance of confidence and humility will help you stay a float.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in LA usually include music, dance, food, and the beach. I’m a beach gyal all the way, and there’s so many to visit and name in So-Cal but one of my favs are Venice Beach becuase it’s so crazy LOL It’s no coincidence that I love seafood and shellfish too, so finding a good seafood restaurant is a must. I love the Hungry Cat and Boiling Crab. When it comes to dancing and finding a good spot with good music I usually go to Caribbean and African events thrown by local Promoters and DJs that I have known for years and performed/or worked with. Some of my favorite reggae/dancehall events are thrown by my good promoter friend Q Bwoy (Jamaican Gold, Pum Pum Tuesdays).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents get all the credit. Life can be so challenging and unfair but with a good support system I’ve found strength and love from depths I never knew I possessed. Love is everything and it can heal as well as destroy when it’s absent. I’m thankful for my tribe.
