We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Collette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If you don’t risk anything, you’re guaranteeing a lifeless outcome. I like to take chances of risk anytime the odds won’t get me killed or hurt someone else. And even then, I’m still gambling my life when I take a car on a race track at high speed or jump out of an airplane. But the moments I’m closest to death are when I feel most alive.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I shoot photos of cars and models. My followers get to see the finished products of what 10+ years of shooting has shaped. Some of the biggest challenges are trying to find the motivation to shoot or edit daily, and constantly set up new shoots – even when paid ones aren’t an option. Even more so, handling the negative feedback that is a byproduct of growing a social media audience. There are some nasty people out there, and some amazing artists let their dreams get crushed because they listen to the voices of those who are typing from a place of envy. I would love the world to know that I’m incredibly motivated by death, and waste no time doing anything I don’t fully love. I only spend time with people who help me grow, and I give back any chance I can because no one ever makes it to the top as a taker.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I do this all the time since so many people visit Hollywood. We’re going on a night rally. Picture Need for Speed or Fast and Furious – but real life. 100+ supercars raging in the streets of LA. We’ll take my camo wrapped boosted Mustang and try to keep up with Lamborghinis on Sunset Blvd. You’ll see all the iconic stops along the way, and meet some of the highest quality people the city has to offer. And typically get boba at the end! I do this at least twice a week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tom Bilyeu. He runs the Impact Theory show and was the voice of mentorship when I was active duty in the Air Force. I felt pretty isolated at a space base, but I listened to his Podcast every day for years. When it came time to leave the military and chase a dream, he was the first person I worked for and continue to listen to on a regular basis.
