Meet azurae shults | Wedding and event producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with azurae shults and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi azurae, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always had an artistic pulse. Although I can’t draw worth a darn or sculpt or produce art in a tangible sense I am inspired by beautiful things and feel that artistic expression spans so many forms- for me, my art is creating experiences. Weddings and events are an experience for both the people who are hosting the celebration as well as the guests who attend.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
No business venture is ever easy and even after 10+ years in mine there are still challenges along the way, but the word that comes to mind when I think about this process is patience. Patience as your brand builds momentum, patience as you mold relationships and patience as you build your portfolio. It’s a process that can not be achieved instantly, especially in my industry where images and experiences mean so much to perspective clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Paso Robles has become a new secret destination that so many wine enthusiasts, foodies and adventure seekers are buzzing about right now. Our small cowboy town is now gracing the covers of national magazines and newspapers, our winemakers are garnering top scores in national wine publications and celebrities are tagging local businesses while visiting. Overall it’s a very special albeit not-so-secret spot. If a friend of mine wanted to be whisked away on a weekend of pampering and extraordinary culinary adventures here’s how I would entertain her.
Friday afternoon:
Meet at 15 Degrees C in Templeton for a bubbles and oysters happy hour.
Stroll down quaint Main St. to McPhee’s Grill for dinner.
Drive to Paso Robles to check into Piccolo Hotel and enjoy a nightcap on their rooftop bar, Tetto.
Saturday:
Breakfast at The Kitchenette, Templeton followed by wine tasting appointments for the afternoon.
Wineries I would include are:
J Dusi Wines, Halter Ranch Winery (plan to order lunch while you’re there), Adelaida, Alta Colina.
I would call Uncorked Wine Tours to help me make my tasting appointments and drive us to all of the winery appointments safely.
Nothing tastes better after a day of wine tasting than a nice cold cocktail or beer so a happy hour stop at Pappy McGregor’s after a day of wine tasting along with an order of garlic fries will do the trick.
Escape back to Piccolo for a shower and quick change before meeting for dinner at BL Brasserie in downtown Paso Robles.
Sunday:
Sleep in.
Meet for brunch at La Cosecha, Paso Robles.
Journey to Atascadero’s Stadium Park trail to hike the 2-mile loop to see the world famous monolith.
Venture back to Tin City for a cider at Tin City Cider and lunch from one of the food trucks in the neighborhood, DeBilz + Hungry Mother are a couple fav’s- or grab lunch to go from McPhee’s Canteen.
A scoop of sheep’s milk ice cream from Negranti’s Creamery will give you the sugar rush you need to make it through the afternoon.
Dinner at Fish Gaucho for your last night in town and a little time to stroll through some of the downtown Paso Robles shops before your final sleep at Piccolo and journey home Monday morning.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly my shoutout has to go to my family for tolerating my crazy schedule which is always unpredictable and sometimes down right insane. Without my Mom for kiddo caretaking and my husband for handling Saturdays on his own with two wild kids I would be in big trouble!
