We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Bateeza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because I’ve always had a passion for music. At a young age, music was always a huge part of my life and I couldn’t have imagined pursuing anything else. I started vocal lessons incredibly young and decided to go to college for vocal performance. Then, I graduated with a Music Business Degree. My love for music led me to DJing.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
(How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?)

It wasn’t an easy path and I hit many obstacles along the way. Those challenges pushed me to work harder and to keep going with my journey. There were several moments I became discouraged, but these moments led me to the blessings I have now. I’ve learned that persistence is the key and to stay motivated in times of uncertainty.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

In Long Beach, one of my favorite spots is Ballast Point Brewery. It’s one of my go-to places and the view over the water is amazing at sunset. I also love the new 2ND and PCH retail center, which is a great place to go for shopping and food and has great views overlooking the Marina. During the day, I like to visit the beaches and usually end up in Huntington Beach for some sun before walking along Main Street for some food and drinks.
I regularly DJ at Hive and Honey in the Marriott Irvine Spectrum and Parkestry at the JW Marriot in Anaheim. These beautiful lounges are great nighttime spots with a magnificent ambiance.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes out to my family and my friends that have supported me along the way. My parents have always encouraged me to pursue what I love and always supported my love for music. There was never a moment when I thought they wouldn’t support my endeavors. I am very blessed to have their encouragement. My close friends and my boyfriend are also great positive driving forces in my life.
