We had the good fortune of connecting with Orly Gal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Orly, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
I had to decide to shut down FMLA during the pandemic as a result of that, I had to restructure the whole show and re launch as a podcast, losing my team and most of our audience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born to a long lineage of Musicians and Artists and grew up in different continents which helped shape the passionate artist I am, some of my happier days were as a child directing an orchestra while my grandpa was leading the violin section and as a teeneger going to festivals, which gave me the opportunity to also pay attention to what happens behind the scenes and made me want to spotlight the talent and effort that takes getting there. I am very proud of the journey that has taken me to FMLA and the Musician I am today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well that is a loaded question haha… I find that the most beautiful places in the city are on the flanks but here are some of my faves.
Beaudry Loop such a Narnia like beautiful hike.
For Tacos , there is no other spot like Casa La Doña, they have the best salsa bar in town.
There is a super cute place called Il cafe downtown LA which is perfect for people watching and a glass of wine while braking the diet with a pizza from the delicious pizza truck parked right outside the cafe.
to continue the fun right next to it is The Ace Hotel rooftop and theatre, such a stunning architectural landmark.
I would take them for brunch to Homestate in Highland Park.
There is an adorable French cafe in los Feliz called figaro also perfect for people watching.
I would hike to the observatory through Ferndale, such a charming trail and stunning views of the Hollywood sign.
The franklin strip is also one of those spots that has everything, for breakfast the oaks has amazing breakfast and awesome coffee, La Poubelle is a great wine spot and birds is just a part of hollywood history at this point.
for Italian there is a place pretty intimate called Colori kitchen and of course Bestia.
I would take the to Resident in the arts district for a drink, I would take them to The Improv for some comedy, I would take them to the 4100 bar, Edendale,The satellite, The lovesong bar, Teragram, Montey Bar , Hotel Cafe and of course a lot of after hour parties which are never disclosed till 20 min before the show starts..

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! Our show is dedicated to spotlighting the masterminds behind the scenes.
I would like to dedicate this to our former creative director Nicole Frederic, who helped shape the brand tremendously.
