We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyric Everly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyric, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that risk-taking is actually an important key ingredient of being an entrepreneur! Along with vision, passion, and resilience, I’ve found risk-taking to be an important action step of the journey. It becomes a cycle of passionately striving towards a vision, rallying the right people, producing, adjusting, and then showing up day after day willing to try again. For me, as a creative entrepreneur, I am constantly in a state of making something that hasn’t been made or done before. I’ve gotten comfortable taking risks by realizing that no matter what happens, you either win or you learn from the experience. Both are extremely valuable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I founded Everly Agency as a full-service branding and creative powerhouse in Los Angeles after several leadership roles at other agencies. I’ve been doing this work for over 15 years and I knew it was time to boss up and branch out on my own. Our team serves visionary entrepreneurs, mission-minded nonprofits, and purpose-driven projects for awesome brands and humans. Our clients consider us their built-in creative team, supporting their ventures through branding, design, marketing, messaging, social, and web. We pride ourselves in caring for our clients as if they were family and integrate a “life of service” mindset in everything we do.

We’ve been fortunate to book consistent projects right from the get-go, so the biggest challenges for me have been achieving work-life balance, simultaneously focusing on present projects and growth, and making sure my team feels supported in the process. Sometimes entrepreneurship feels like wearing all the hats at once while dancing backwards in high-heels…and I love who we become when we say yes to the dance.

In addition to the Agency, I’m a Musician, a Certified Sound Healer, and a Property Investor / Airbnb Superhost for my desert dreamspace, Everly Landing, near Joshua Tree. I serve on the community Board of Directors for Youth Business Alliance and have been a mentor for 14+ years through Big Brothers Big Sisters. I also have several other ventures in the works (always).

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite things about living in LA is that you can go to the ocean, mountains, desert, and city all within a couple hours. I typically gravitate towards nature-y moments with my circle.

Eat: Wild Chive for Weekend Brunch + Cafe Gratitude for Weekday Lunch + Sage for Dinner

Drink: an Old Fashioned at Factory Kitchen or wine at The Intercontinental

Visit: Cinespia, The Last Bookstore, Catalina Island, Terranea Resort, and Everly Landing near Joshua Tree!

Hang: Huntington Gardens, Echo Park Lake, DTLA Arts District, Malibu Pier, and any of our national parks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my team at Everly Agency + the two organizations who blessed me with their Volunteer of the Year award this year: Big Brothers Big Sisters LA + Youth Business Alliance.
