Meet Caslin Rose | Actress & Host/Creator of “Always Acting Up” podcast & blog

We had the good fortune of connecting with Caslin Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caslin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking of any kind can be scary at first. You’re moving out of your comfort zone from the known to the unknown.
There are a few things I take into consideration to determine if the risk is worth taking.
1) Regret.
Let’s say your lifelong dream is to invent a new product. You have this idea, and it’s brilliant, but you’re too scared to put yourself and your product out into the world for fear of rejection or failure.
Five years later someone else comes up with “your idea” and it is a huge success and everyone loves it. How would you feel about this? Woulda, should, coulda.
The idea of not fulfilling a potential or a dream is emotionally challenging. Even if you don’t succeed, at least you know you tried.
When you look back on your life 50 years from now, what do you want it to look like? One thing you cannot get back in life is time.
2) What’s at stake?
It is absolutely possible that you end up taking a risk and it doesn’t go according to plan. You could end up losing a lot of money, big clients, or even learn that your dream/product/risk is a lot more difficult than you anticipated. More often than not, your 10 step plan to success ends up being more like 125 steps and counting.
Now you have to ask yourself, what is the sacrifice worth to you?
Don’t let these hardships get you down. Use them as a lesson to make a new roadmap towards success. You already know what didn’t work, so now you can use this as an opportunity to analyze and try something new. You’ll find that sweet spot sooner or later.
With this being said, it’s important to make educated “risks”, seek mentorship, and ultimately decide what the best decisions are for you.
Unintentionally, I’ve been a risk-taker my entire life. I grew up as a gymnast and flipping around on a 4-inch wide balance beam is incredibly risky. There was always a possibility of getting hurt, but my focus was on the end goal of learning and perfecting a new skill.
I think this same mentality can be applied to any career or life decision. Not every day is going to be perfect and there will be plenty of bumps and bruises along the way, but there is always a light at the end of every tunnel. The journey will just look a little different for everyone.
So in terms of the word “risk”, I would personally rather learn from my mistakes than regret not taking them. I never want to have to sit back and wonder, “what if”.
This can all be applied to my current career as an actress and host/creator of “Always Acting Up” podcast. I may not have millions of views at the moment or the lead on a hit TV show, but I can wholeheartedly say, I’m in the midst of the risk.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With over 10 years of experience in front of the camera as an actress and host, I decided to launch “Always Acting Up” podcast to help artists and actors navigate their career in the entertainment industry.
“Just do it” is a very common answer I hear from so many successful people when asked how they started their careers. It’s a very vague and overrated answer that doesn’t really help.
My mission with Always Acting Up is to demystify some of those early career steps and talk directly with the industry professionals who are already masters at their craft.
After a few seasons of my podcast, I found that we were still missing many elements that help round out an artist, and that’s why Always Acting Up BLOG was launched. We focus on the lifestyle and how you can look, feel and perform better in front of the camera AND life.
Ultimately, your career is a business so you need to be able to develop good habits such as time management, skin care and side hustles, in addition to being a good performer.
My career certainly hasn’t been a quick and easy cake walk. I’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way, however, this has allowed me to mentor and share the do’s and don’ts with those just beginning.
It’s important to remember that success isn’t an overnight phenomenon, despite what social media may tell you or make you feel. While it may look like I booked this job or that job, I have a podcast, I have a blog, I am doing xyz, a lot of risks have been taken over many, many years.
For those that don’t have a lot of support or don’t believe you can do it on your own, as a soloprenuer, I’m here to tell you that you can!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I guess I’m pretty cliche here, but I’m a sucker for a good tourist trap. I know there are plenty of people that like to venture off and “live like the locals”, but that isn’t me. I want to see all the hot spots and why they’re so great.
People spend tons of money to visit these spots that we as locals never even go to.
I usually always recommend spending the day in Hermosa. Grab a towel and some drinks and head to the beach. Enjoy some lunch on the pier (you can’t go wrong with Hennessey’s) and if you have access to a bike, absolutely take a cruise to Venice or head in the other direction down to the Redondo Pier and grab a drink at Najas Place.
Next, take a deep breath and wait in line at Porto’s Bakery for their amazing goodies. All I’m saying is, I wouldn’t say no for a sponsorship or affiliate link here. Love it.
Venture on down to the Hollywood and Highland complex. That’s where you’ll see the “Hollywood Walk of Fame”, Grauman’s Chinese theater, the celebrity handprints, and you may even have an opportunity to be an audience member on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Either way, there’s always something to do down there.
And lastly, at some point you must make your way back to the west side to visit Santa Monica or Venice. You just have to, it’s classic LA and the drum circle Sunday night in Venice is way more fun than you’d imagine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everyone. Absolutely everyone has contributed towards my determination and success whether they have been supportive verbally, emotionally or none of the above.
I can’t shout out enough my appreciation for every single guest of Always Acting Up Podcast for sharing their time and knowledge with myself and my audience. The show isn’t nearly as entertaining and educational without them.
In addition, every listener gets a giant hug from me as well. It may seem small, but the “comments” and “likes” truly help to determine what type of content to continue creating.
Hey hey to Hisonni Johnson for encouraging me to pick up the microphone and get to podcasting in the first place. It took a little nudging, but hey, I took the risk and here I am.
And a shout out to SHOUTOUT for this opportunity.
I’m grateful for the collaboration and hope that I can encourage anyone who needs a little extra nudging to pursue their dreams.
