We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The ultimate goal of my career is to have my own gorgeous beauty shop. Where I’m able to provide beauty services, especially makeup applications and, amongst others. I also want to have my own set channel, whether it’s through YouTube or other broadcast networks, where I’m able to teach everything you should know about makeup and how to deliver a great look.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a makeup artist. I do what you call Glam makeup, but can also go into SFX, which is special effects. Furthermore, I would have to say SFX has my interest just a tad bit more because there’s so much you can do with that. So many looks you can create. It’s never ending! Being able to branch out within the beauty world is very rewarding for yourself, knowing you can do many things. I kept working even when I felt like giving up. When I felt like it was too hard to attempt at times, I did it anyway. There’s been times when I’ve had clients that were difficult, but I remained calm and pushed through. Some clients will like it and some don’t and for the ones that don’t, you just have to reevaluate yourself, see what you need to work on and fix it. I have had a few huge clients, including a professional hockey player for the LA Kings and a professional woman golfer! So, to say getting clients that big is rewarding even after a few failed attempts/mistakes. I want everyone to know my skills. Most importantly, I want them to be able to be able to recognize my work whenever it’s shared or featured in anything. I want to be able to teach others and give the influence of beauty!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I’m still fairly new to all of what California has to offer haha. However, I either go to Orange County for the scenic views or the Long Beach area for the vibes! I like this foodie in Long Beach that is home to me called “Waffle Love”. When I found out there was one here, I got so excited because the waffles are so good! I would then probably go somewhere on the pike to do a little shopping. If a drink was needed, there are many bars on Second Street that I’ve been to that I enjoy. I really love how California has many hidden gems. There’s a beach called 1000 steps and it is so beautiful and intimate! You don’t have to worry about so many people being there!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to give my thanks to my family. They have been very supportive of me since I started my journey to move to California and make way for myself. Especially my siblings, my sister Lakecia and my brother Jacob, who always engage and share anything I promote/post in regard to my brand. Also, I want to give a shout out to my cousins Sharena and Alicia, who have let me practice on them before I had got a clientele and who still always allow me to gain that practice whenever I’m back home! Lastly would like to thank my friend Jessica, who mentored me on everything I should know about clientele, procedure and basics. I have again received a ton of support and couldn’t be more thankful!
